No, I wasn't alluding to that... I meant an artist with meaningless lyrics or who doesn't convey anything to me. Frank Sinatra had a voice that was definitely superior to Nick Drake's, but in terms of artistic stature, from my perspective, there's no comparison.

"I want to emphasize once again that voice and acoustic guitar have been a combination of great intensity and difficult expression, and therefore the whole is perfect and rare.
"... indeed, it's rare to find perfect albums solely for voice and acoustic guitar."
The Byrds Younger Than Yesterday

McGuinn was a great guitarist, but a pathetic songwriter: he was envious of everyone. Gene Clark, Crosby, and Gram Parsons... all too talented, all guilty of overshadowing the acid Roger with their unique compositions. The case of "Triad" is symptomatic: how the hell can you omit such a beautiful song? Parsons would have fared even worse... but after all, it's around these rivalries that the myth of rock develops. There's not much to say about "Younger than yesterday": for me, it's their best album, I also love "mind gardens." It may seem naive today, but back then it reflected the innocence and purity of Crosby's spirit, which were those of the best minds of his generation. Damn mister no from "four way street" you mentioned only pieces of good old David...

brilliant and unfortunate, like so many...

increases my paranoia....yeah! what can I say about an album that made history?
Buffalo Springfield Buffalo Springfield

"Out of my mind"... what an incredible ballad, with those rarefied guitars: a hidden gem in Neil's repertoire. The whole band was fantastic and gave their all; an unstable equilibrium that couldn't last long, but you can change the history of music even with just a handful of songs.

beautiful review, really special album. I agree with donjunio when he claims that an era has ended and that the drug abuses at the end of the hippie dreams left a mark... however, there is still a magic, just a magic of veterans, a magic that makes you dream even if the times have changed and are much darker, the magic of letting go while listening to a melody from good old David.... this album is still fantastic, and the review perfectly showcases that. well done mister no!

I would love to push Robert's stroller for hours.

Powderfinger drives me crazy; it’s my favorite song of all time. It perfectly encapsulates the essence of the album (the transience of time, heroism, and art as means to conquer rust). I recommend the DVD to everyone.

Brian Wilson in Canterbury, grumpy and unlucky Orpheus...beautiful suggestions in this review.
