Well... actually, Neil Young at that concert was in a pathetic condition, he seemed to be at the last stage of his torment in the 70s, shortly after the conclusion of his "doom trilogy"... the observation of his nose to see in what state it was due to the abuse of certain substances has gone down in history... just a couple of years later, he would resurface in shining condition on the "Rust Never Sleeps" tour, and even on several occasions in the 90s - like the tour documented by "Weld" - he was far from being a mere stand-in...

I had missed this one, psychopompe, really nice... my favorite though is the homonymous one from 1968, and if no other freak chinacaglia lover thinks of it, I’ll jot something down...
Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii

the dvd is really great: I agree on echoes, for me it's the best track by pink floyd post-barrett, although a bit more conciseness wouldn't have hurt...

Yes, it's true, there was also "three days" by Jane's Addiction... but I couldn't tell you why they didn't include it. After all, it was a tribute: Pixies and Jane's Addiction were two of the bands that paved the way for grunge the most.

I fully agree with pretazzo and ocean, even though the album that Kurt loved was "Surfer Rosa," which he described as the best of those years... not by chance, he would call Albini to produce In Utero.

Zarathustra, Navarro didn’t have a dark style, on the contrary... as the knowledgeable one rightly writes, he is instead "poliedrico," and knows how to vary unlike a few other guitarists... a piece like “shallow be thy game” has nothing dark about it, in fact, the six-string sounds like Cream on amphetamines... the best things on this record are his guitar parts, certainly not Flea's bass lines (you cite "aeroplane" as the peak of the album, to me it seems rather mundane... de gustibus).

eheh ok, anyway I reiterate the advice to listen to something by Deconstruction. Bye Jim!
Jane's Addiction Ritual De Lo Habitual

Well Jim, yours is a well-reasoned opinion, even if I don't agree with it. I have many friends, especially from a grunge-metal background, who can't stand Farrell's voice while appreciating the sound of Jane’s. Maybe I'm not objective because I grew up with Jane's records, but for example, if you listen to the Panic Channel album (basically the last incarnation of Jane's after they kicked out Farrell), you'll notice that it doesn't work. They sound like the old Jane's Addiction with a singer who has an emphatic tone, a bit grunge, a bit Sebastian Bach... in some tracks it definitely works, thanks to the excellent structure of the band, but after a while, it gets tiring... at least, that's how I see it! Anyway, if you really appreciate the band, I recommend you get the only album by Deconstruction, Navarro's 1994 project along with bassist Eric Avery... a truly intriguing project, completely outside of any commercial logic... I’ve only heard one piece, and it didn’t say much to me.. the review, as always, is thorough.
