What deeply angers me is that all these so-called reviewers feel like geni when they trash works of art, OBJECTIVELY recognized works of art (acknowledging this, everyone is free to say they don't like it, they think it sucks, they can't stand it, etc.), with statements like "a shapeless jumble of noises that shouldn't even be cataloged among a musician's works. This kind of rubbish, where technology is passed off as creativity, noise as sound, and personal neurosis as inspiration, represents exactly the type of works beloved by the majors, who can celebrate the first junkie misfit as the new Mozart of noise." Do those sound like reasoned arguments to you? Does it seem realistic to criticize Downward Spiral as a "jumble of sounds"? Does it seem realistic to criticize it even from a COMMERCIAL point of view? Here we are instead dealing with a level of arrogance, pompousness, and above all, enormous IGNORANCE. I read these reviews purely for entertainment, and I couldn't care less about the value of the album, which could even be a masterpiece, but that's not the point.
