Thanks geek, I trust you and I'll add it to the bottom of my listening list. I haven't been able to see her live yet; I missed her in Paris this year (I lived there for 9 months) because the Nine Inch Nails were playing, and here in Florence I had the chance to see her - too bad the tickets cost something outrageous. Good old Tori is starting to lose points with me, I don't know, she seems to have become an incredible snob.

Has anyone heard the latest? The critics tore it apart; I haven't heard anything yet. I've only seen the rather hideous cover.

This is truly a great record, guys. I haven't devoured an album by an emerging band like this in the last two or three years. There's a formal composure in the arrangement with classy songwriting, and the unease that exists is incredibly well controlled. Most of the vocal melodic lines are exceptional. Berninger's voice is so beautiful that it often reminds me of Cohen, and his lyrics are undoubtedly excellent. The soul of the band is him, but as therealramona rightly points out, Davendorf's rhythms are the other essential aspect. I would give it a 4.5, but I want to round up because records like this these days are more unique than rare. Great review, Targetsky.

Basically the best. On par with Taxi Driver, Eraserhead, Videodrome, 2001, and Citizen Kane. The legendary line from De Niro upon his return, "I went to bed early," is actually a quote from "A la recherche du temps perdu" by Marcel Proust.

Excellent and insightful review. In your conclusion, you really hit the nail on the head: the work is even too perfect.
Nine Inch Nails Year Zero

A great album. He really couldn't have done better at this point in his career. And be careful when handling certain concepts like "commercial": it's used with "products," created solely for profit and without any artistic ambition. Here there's direct expressiveness and a lot of melodic talent, if anything, which has historically made Reznor much greater than the respectable but decidedly inferior Ministry, etc. Bad review.

Just one word would be enough: wonderful.

This is the review I would have liked to write about this album. You've translated my thoughts into words... incredible. The "sickness," the sense of death that permeates these tracks is something indescribable and suffocating. Morrison's last gift to the world, a masterpiece on par with the first two albums. Already placed among the recommended. That voice of Jim...
