Vinicio Capossela Ovunque Proteggi

Well, if you have private channels with Capossela then I envy you...the review is well written, that low score was only justified by the notes mentioned earlier.

clever trick, but not very convincing... first because the instant time review is a fact, second because with the quote from Waits in the second line of the review you literally made my balls drop to the ground...
Franco Battiato La Voce Del Padrone
Voto:
Unfortunately, the unwritten but sensible rule of reviewing an album only if there isn't one or if you think you can do better is rarely applied... it's not that I want exclusivity on this album, but damn, there are dozens of albums I would have liked to review but for which I'm convinced I can't express myself better than those who did before me... and so I don't do it.

It's too early to pass judgment on a tremendous artist like Capossela. I believe that reviewing such a demanding album on its release day is a rather presumptuous act... and enough with this Tom Waits story; Capossela was reminiscent of Waits at most in his first album, then his sources of inspiration became so numerous that the shadow of the American singer-songwriter faded away.
Franco Battiato Orizzonti Perduti
Voto:
There is something special about this album, and the reviewer did well to highlight it; however, it remains somewhat subdued in terms of musical choices. In fact, I find that several songs deserved better production. On the other hand, this like others is an album where Battiato has taken a DIY approach, and inevitably all the tracks reflect that. In any case, we find in the album one of Battiato's most intimate and sincere sides... and considering the subject, that’s no small feat.

Don't worry too much about ruining the average of the reviews; there's already another peculiar subject.

Tears for Fears are among the very few bands that managed to keep pop at high levels during the 80s... Orzabal, in my opinion, is still one of the best songwriters around.
Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness

I wrote what I wrote because in previous posts I've read unreasonable judgments about the album, stemming from those who either don't know the album or have a very limited view of music in general: I, when I don't know something, refrain from writing comments... then those who, based on nothing, express stupid judgments shouldn't be surprised by my outbursts, starting from the price of the CD where someone has shown ignorance about the price at which the album was released back then and about the logic of the music market that has raised the price in subsequent years.

remarkable the review...syncopated and relentless...on one of my countless musical gaps

Everyone is free to label an album however they want, but I believe that for certain works, one should at least refrain from doing so if they don’t know it well or don't appreciate it for whatever reason. There are indeed indispensable and essential albums: The Wall, Sgt. Pepper, The Joshua Tree, etc. These albums might not appeal to everyone (I’m not crazy about TJT by U2, for example), but I don’t dispute their popularity, the emotional impact they’ve had on the masses, the substantial art behind them... Mellon Collie is one of those albums, so it’s pointless to waste breath arguing because this has entered history and won’t be out of it, whether you like it or not.
