I had listened to them back then and they didn’t drive me crazy. Then I saw them (intra) at MiOdi and I was struck by the use of melodies and the guitarist's technique. A bit static, but not bad at all. I would have liked to hear them at volumes, even just above those of a phone ringtone, but maybe next time. I want to give them another shot.

I really liked the review. I found it... "honest." Well done.

If I remember correctly, these were voted as the best album of I can't remember which year by Stonerobixxx. I had given it a listen, but - to be honest - it didn't completely blow me away. Great review!

Review spakkafosse. Well done Ragno! I was supposed to see them on Tuesday at MiOdi, but due to the schedule, I just couldn't make it. By the way, I had convinced myself they played the usual stoner that gets in your ears and balls. And instead... I would definitely listen to them!

I only know the excellent Hesperus: really a big guy. I miss this, but sooner or later I'll give it a go! Well done Baffo: a very evocative message... maybe too much! :))

Man, I don't get a damn thing about this kind of music, but, for example, this or this (obviously, since I don't listen to this genre, the only ones I know are the ones that played on the radio) have been passed off to me as house tracks and the samples have guitar, bass, and drums. Isn't this the non-electro-house?!? It's also true that the girl in the video for the first song does everything with a 486 and two keyboards, but I think it's the fault of the narrative fiction in the video...

I'll see them tomorrow at MiOdi. The reports talk about a group that really can't live up to what they promise on record, with a double drum set that, if you think about it, is completely unnecessary. I don't mind them on record, but they don't excite me either. I still believe that for bands like this (but also with Mastodon, too fast and too prog, and Baroness, too much of a drag) the sludge genre has very little to do with it. In any case, in my opinion, this remains a good album, with some good ideas, not always utilized as they could have been. But come on, calling it a "monstrous masterpiece" seems a bit exaggerated to me.

Now that I think about it... I don't think I've ever found the 100th level of Super Mario World!

Just finished watching: there are some nice ideas, but overall it’s incredibly flat. It starts off decently, although with a few too many stereotypes (is it really necessary for every movie to have at least one alcoholic cop because someone killed his wife?!?!). There's a decent middle part, even though the supernatural element is explained in a way that’s far too didactic and far too early. It ends really poorly. I mean, really, really poorly. That comforting ending is just unbearable. I would have ended it by revealing that the devil was actually the cop and had him kill the guy. But maybe that’s why I’m not a screenwriter by profession…

If I must be honest, I haven't been visiting Stonerobixx very often lately, mainly due to time constraints: at least before I would always manage a quick look at the Myspace of the bands they posted, but now that seems quite difficult for me. Plus, I'm slowly moving away from certain sounds. It's better this way; I'm no longer frantically searching for new bands, I prefer to commit to memory the albums I already know and perhaps have listened to little. Maybe the last album of that genre that really struck me was the one by Cough... These days I'm happily listening to "No help for the mighty one" by Subrosa: it's still doom, but from what I seem to understand about your tastes, I believe it might be a bit too light and melodic. There's the female voice and the violin... :)
