Pink Floyd The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn

Dear Dad, let me lay my cards on the table: for me, the answer is a resounding "NO!" to Barrett's fundamental role in Pink Floyd. As charismatic as he may be, I never saw him as a great songwriter or a great performer, which Roger and David certainly are (so different yet perfectly compatible, like Lennon and McCartney or Keith and Mick, if you know what I mean). Proof of this is that the works of the latter two don’t sound dated today, while those of the former absolutely do. I believe that the great masterpieces of Pink Floyd would never have come to life from a band led by Syd. Therefore, cynically, I consider it a blessing for music that he lost his mind. Am I being too ruthless...? Or do you want to claim that this album is worth "Wish" or "Dark"...? Bah... it seems that undermining Barrett's role is forbidden by law... Bah...

truly a fantastic album, where everything, in my opinion, is absolutely intentional, from the apparent banality of the music to the keyboard sound that lingers here and there... The atmosphere (a not insignificant aspect for music... right...?) is truly the strong point of this product. An atmosphere that is somewhat lost in the subsequent and recent "Dear Heather" (though this is also, however, a great album).

I almost forgot: Wag The Dog is great but exceedingly short, and regarding the ugliness of movies, I remind you that The Hot Spot (Davis, Hooker & C...) has the best soundtrack ever (I challenge anyone to deny that...) accompanied a beautiful piece of junk of a film...

Absolutely brilliant, even just for reviewing this cult album that so few know (unfortunately). This is great music produced by a phenomenal author/performer. MK has always been one of my idols, and this year at the Forum his concert was truly magnificent. Those who call him the poor man's Morricone understand very little, unless they argue that Morricone is the poor man's Albinoni, and so on down to the caveman. Ridiculous positions without ifs or buts.

Damn... I missed the "the"... sorry everyone. As an ancient fan of the Stones, I impose on myself twenty lashes on my bare back, kneeling on chickpeas to atone for my stupid sin (and I'm not joking... I don't joke about religion...). Anyway, I insist (after having heard it another 3/4 times): great album that seems small (and usually, those are the greatest). For now, I would say the best from "Steel Wheels" to today... but soon I might be even more enthusiastic...

dad...: first there's a question mark...or not...? The fact is how much Barrett really weighed in the history (even compositional) of the Pink. A debate that's been open forever...
Guns And Roses Use Your Illusion 1&2

The Guns are the most overrated rock band in history. But, that said, the review seems to stem from a psychic drift of pseudo-rebellion and contrariness (even if I mostly agree with the content). It's nice to be truly bad with a lot less bullshit, isn’t it...?

Well... the album is certainly as beautiful as it is historic and historicized: Barrett's departure, in the end, was the great fortune or the great misfortune of the Pink...? From the answer, many conclusions can be drawn...
Vasco Rossi Bollicine

Damn... I hit the mark provoking with Antonaccio (another clown, son of the useless '90s...). To evaluate Vasco’s lyrics, they need to be listened to and analyzed from '78 to '83. After that, he’s a man who plays (well) his part.

Great review: for me the best Prince is born here and dies with Parade (at the very limit with Lovesexy), only to lift his head again with lesser-known works like One Night Alone (the intimate voice and piano album... not the triple live... although it’s beautiful) and certainly not with the modest Musicology. Here, undoubtedly, he is divine, just a step away from the sudden and stunning arrival of the purple rain.
