Well, between the two I wouldn't know which one to choose...

Yes, but I don't like it! I find it less melodic; maybe it's just a matter of habit.

In my opinion, the first one is acceptable, the second is horribly hip hop. This is yet another crap, but better than the previous one in my opinion.

But how is the text 2+2=5 related to Orwell's 1984?

I heard the title track, and to be honest, I didn't like it that much... I find them too theatrical, and the singing in Italian doesn't sit well with me at all. Let's say 2.5. I won't vote so as not to ruin the average; I bet they could appeal to a lot of people.

Well, if I have to say my piece, SYL suck, and I struggle when listening to Devin Townsend's albums (which are beautiful) to believe that he's the mind behind that group!!!!

I've already done an example. It depends on what kind of text it is; generally, I prefer "stories" to references to actual events, but these are just preferences. In any case, I understand it from the message it conveys, from the way it is written, also taking a look at meter and flow. I really like metaphors and similes; sometimes I come across brilliant ones. For now, this is what comes to mind.
