I missed a Patton album that would tire me out after 5-6 listens because it was too catchy.

Yes, but come on guys, don't you have anything better to do than these controversies? Now the smart aleck from the neighborhood pops up too! You all make me double over with laughter, both the review-copyers and the critics and snitches.
Getting back to the album, after a few more listens, I’m moving from the 3 I’d previously given it to a solid 4. I don’t agree with those who accuse Motorpsycho of self-referentiality for this work: self-referential and tired was the previous album, here we have a breath of fresh air that we needed. The M have been reference-heavy from the very beginning; they became self-referential quite early on, and the musical exploration that started with Let Them It Cake, passed through Phanerotyme and (thank goodness) culminated with It's a Love Cult has been the culmination of that reference-self-reference. The M are a band that hasn’t invented anything, but they’ve produced magnificent albums. In my opinion, this current work falls somewhere in a hypothetical value scale of their works, roughly halfway. I don’t feel like judging this album as a failure to progress or a halt in the evolution of their music: it’s a U-turn on the path taken some time ago that, over time, had revealed itself to be a dead end; as (yet another) fan from the beginning, I say these are still the M, that I miss Geb a lot, but Snah and Bent continue to do what they’ve always done: play rock.

In my opinion, it's nothing like Trust Us, not at all. They’ve abandoned strings and brass and returned to making rock after the exploration of the '60s and '70s of the previous three. Good album, but Bent's drumming is lacking; you can really feel Geb's absence.

What a beautiful record this is! I believe it was recorded in Naples... However, Puta's Fever is not a reissue of Patchanka as you wrote; it's Amerika Perdida, which is a collage of the two previous albums plus a couple of unreleased tracks. I don't mind King of Bongo either, even though I admit it's inferior to the others.

How much I miss them too! A beautiful album. Great work by Patton on vocals, really more expressive than ever. Professional review.

I'm a pipe prophet: in a couple of years, the FF will make another album, gain new fans, but their supporters today will say: "Nooo, they've sold out, what a pointless album!!" and the following year, no one will remember the FF anymore.

@Carlos: I wasn’t actually writing to you in that post. The thing about objectivity is in a post by someone who signed as ilReazionario. As for the rest, I humbly ask for your forgiveness for having intruded into a conversation I wasn't part of. Ah, what presumption on my part! It won’t happen again, I beg your pardon.
