Franco Battiato Fisiognomica
Voto:
Album that marks Battiato's famous mystical-contemplative turning point: the artist from Catania will, in my opinion, produce interesting works and some less convincing ones. This is a good album, intimate, too collected to be concerned with percussive elements - absent in almost all the tracks; "E ti vengo a cercare" has made history, "Nomadi" is a small gem. From this moment on, Franco will dangerously oscillate between classical and popular music, achieving the best results in the latter case. Not without reason, Caffè de la paix is considered one of the best of recent times: here Franco re-discovers pop-rock, begins to shed his reactionary hippie beard, and gives meditative music a more digestible dimension.

Basically the Best Of, some tracks like "La Crisi" and "Fuori dal tempo" are exceptional. I have always criticized them for a certain orchestral weakness, perhaps it’s not entirely untrue that, compositionally, Subsonica are superior. By the way, a little gem from the 2000s is that feverish 7/4 of Disco Labirinto written by the two groups. At San Remo, they were hammered, which obviously proves the undeniable quality of the piece they presented.
Wim Mertens Strategie De La Rupture
Voto:
I miss this, I only know "Iris" from one of the many collections. Wim's minimalist style is extremely popular, and it's no coincidence that he has released an album that heavily focuses on audience engagement. I'll definitely listen to this. What a legend that "INSERT COIN" à la Kraftwerk from For Amusement Only! A greeting from the national Pietrone.

Ahah, great comment, Joe! Basically, you’re right, but you’re downplaying it: go find the artists who can translate visions into notes with such mastery! Breus, we have similar tastes.

Trivializations and questionable opinions aside (the review is as naive as they are, hehe), I believe you've grasped the essence of the matter, and finally I find someone who appreciates that tremendous devastating climax of the title track. I've discussed the contradiction of condemnation/exaltation of electronic civilization by KRFTWRK elsewhere: here the DP are having fun with the machines, of course their tribute is exquisitely musical, not content-based.

Esuqquesti, we need to get a couple of cultures! I'll review.
Sting The Soul Cages

Indeed, you’re not entirely wrong; I’ve never really minded the sting, to be honest. With or without policemen, natural or extended. I know about 3-4 songs of this. Does pop have dignity? If so, Sting is one of its finest interpreters.

Wim Mertens The Belly of an Architect

A kind of Best of, basically, featuring a good portion of tracks from Struggle and Vergessen. I barely remember the film: it didn’t impress me much, in fact, it bored me a bit. Branca is good too. It’s not a 5, but a 4: the only thing I’ve always criticized Mertens for is the fact that he has overused commercial operations. This is one of them: a lot of material taken from other works that are already present in multiple collections. Breus is good, though!

I'm going to eat some acorns too! In fact, I've had a few tips: today you can also find some pistachios to roast, frankly I couldn't expect anything better.
