In the beginning, there were Kraftwerk, sound manipulators and inventors (along with a few others) of a new musical genre, electronic music. All of their works were based on a very precise concept, "Man is born an organism but will become a machine", and today this concept is more relevant than ever, with society becoming more schematic and enslaved by consumerism, repetitive and lobotomized by the system, cold and soulless. But deep down, we are still human... The Parisian duo Daft Punk has taken the lesson from Kraftwerk and produced this album, which is almost a tribute to the German group, composed in just 6 weeks, Human After All (and the title says it all) is mainly based on the concept of repetitiveness, positioning itself halfway between genius and trash, and that is precisely their strength that many have not understood, working with trash in a genius manner is their job! The name of the group says it all, DAFT PUNK (Trash Punk), able to revolutionize the history of house music by tinkering with cheap samplers and vocoders in their home garage!! Homework (work done at home), was composed with digital mishmashes but in a genius way, and the two brothers were 18 years old! Nothing has changed since then, Human After All maintains the same characteristics as the previous albums, digital trash stuffed with strokes of genius, the (professional) minimalism of Kraftwerk taken to extremes, ridiculed, simplified, but in an excellent way!! Everyone can create repetitive music using the same loop for 6 minutes (as long as you have Magix's music maker), but very few can do it in an intelligent way.

The genius of this album is that every song sticks to you and never lets go, it gets into your head and hypnotizes you, at first you say "this is boring, it's always the same loop, this album is crap," but day after day you can't help but listen to it, starting with the single "Robot Rock", simple, trivial... yet terribly engaging! The first few times you listen to this song, you get the impression of hearing the same sound for 6 minutes! But with more listens, your ear starts to pick up on those small variations within the arrangement, that sound inserted halfway through the song, that distortion made after 4 minutes, the drum that rolls every two repetitions, the electronic percussion that precedes a solo or a key change, in short, for those who are not accustomed, it's the same old tune, but for those with a certain ear, it's 6 minutes of pure entertainment, the genius hidden behind the banality. The album shifts from one genre to another in a bewildering way, from the infarction-inducing bass drum of "Steam Machine" repeated endlessly until spasm (but extremely fun!!!!!) to the soft "Make Love" that follows immediately after, here too the repetitiveness is pleasant and not tiring, but the softness is interrupted by the psychopathic next track "The Brainwasher", probably composed for the pill-poppers of Rave Parties, but there is also space for nostalgic 80s Rock, like the title track "Human After All" that unfolds over six minutes with electronic sounds worthy of the best Daft Punk (the best song on the album), finally for electronic music lovers, "The Prime Time of Your Life" is nothing less than a masterpiece! "Simply" brilliant! Slow start, vocoder and distortions, psychedelia in the middle and final explosion with BPM at max! A kind of big bang in electronic form, phenomenal (if you haven’t seen the video, rush to get the DVD attached to the Greatest Hits, it’s nothing short of amazing).

A well-orchestrated album that never forgets to pay homage to Kraftwerk, starting with the album cover, very similar to that of "Computer Welt." Musically speaking, "Television Rules The Nation" is perhaps the song that comes closest to the world of Kraftwerk, (minimal rhythm, repetitive vocoder), in short, Daft Punk made it again! Of course, this is not music for everyone!, it’s not mass music (except for Technologic), it cannot and "shouldn't" be liked by everyone, you will hardly convince a friend to listen to this whole album, after the third minute of "Robot Rock" they will tell you to change the CD because it's repetitive. Clearly, they have not understood the ironic and ingenious vein of Daft Punk. For everyone else, Human After All will be like a drug! You’ll listen to it in the car, at home, on the mp3 player, at the gym, and wherever there is a stereo. They are human despite everything, but we are robots!

I thought a month and a half was too much; this is stuff that could have been done in a week.

What is completely missing are the ideas, which were certainly not lacking in previous works.

It is much more similar to Kraftwerk’s music than it seems, yet at the same time it is uniquely reimagined.

This 'Human after all' could have been titled 'Television World' or 'Television rules the nation', but in any case, no one thought of it before.

Only two robots could create such a work.

This CD is a big screw you to everyone who can’t grasp the genius that fills each song.

For the first time in my life, I felt a bit of disappointment with this fabulous duo.

Nice album, but it could have been better.

By Il Tarantiniano

"Human After All is the revenge of Daft Punk—distancing themselves from their comfort zone."

"Technologic... fills the atmosphere and makes it even more neurotic in its irresistibility."
