I listened to the album for a long time and it didn't impress me much. However, live, Damien Rice is truly remarkable.

ostentatious and very gloomy; jamie thomes - dedicated to a skateboarding champion - the best of the lot, (a nice adrenaline rush, why did you call it pure chaos?). And why not mention Fags and failure, on the same note? That's when I reach for my revolver and Fame and fortune are covers of Mission to Burma. For the rest, I agree with your assessment. The CD should be owned just for Graham's drawings in the booklet.

It had been a while since I listened to this album. I had forgotten how beautiful it could be.

What we talk about (when we talk about love): "It dates back to the time when I started working on this album. I was playing with pianist Guy van Nueten Some kinda love by the Velvet Underground during our acoustic tour, and I wanted to create a simple song that had love as its theme. I took the title from that American master, the late Raymond Carver, who apparently wrote simple short stories about love. CJ Bolland is very present on this track. The deep voice at the beginning is mine, with the pitch lowered like in Theme from Turnpike. What we talk about was – unexpectedly for me – one of the audience favorites when we rehearsed it on tour last November. Due to its cheerful tone, I suppose."

Beautiful review, as for the album... better to say that I need to listen to it more carefully. Another cinematic detail: Bad timing takes its title and part of the lyrics from the homonymous film by Nicolas Roeg (starring Art Garfunkel and Theresa Russell).

One night in Manaus is definitely one of my favorites.

This record deserves credit for its courage in approach, and nothing more. I quote Mr. Moustache: after this, nothingness.

When he recorded this album, he clearly wasn't in the right state of mind, but I like it.

not just psychopomps: go read - in the section of the site dedicated to politics - Scaruffi's opinion on the greenhouse effect and the Kyoto Protocol, on Cuba (according to him, it should be attacked, just as was done with Iraq), on the Israel-Palestine conflict (I read in an interview where he proposed as a solution the destruction of Jerusalem). I respect Scaruffi's immense musical knowledge, but when he steps outside this field to engage in politics, some of his positions leave me quite taken aback.
