Noir Désir Des Visages Des Figures

Venus, I agree! A tragic, cursed fucking accident. While it's true that a man should never raise his hands against a woman, we don't know what really happened in that room. I can say this because I've had a rather turbulent relationship in the past. Sometimes I even got hit, but deep down in my heart, I know I brought it on with my histrionics, my possessiveness, with provocative behaviors that I knew he disliked, with my relentless verbal attacks. This story about Cantat has affected me a lot, very much. And it's well known that Trintignant wasn't an angel either; in fact, she was rather "troubled" herself... (yes, 15 years, sorry for the mistake)

Axl Rose, Kid Rock, Andrew Wk, are just a mirror of a large part of young Americans, the same ones who, in an attempt to be alternative to these stars, also listen to Slipknot or that idiot Fred Durst with his Limp Bizkit. People who only think about getting wasted and fucking, in a nutshell. This HUGE part of the youth appeals to the American government because they are vulgar and sheep-like and don’t vote. I don’t disdain these characters for the music they make (which can sometimes be enjoyable, as the reviewer says) but because they are part of the American brainwashing system, and because they have the privilege of having a "gun" in their hands but only shoot blanks. Cool Oras welcome, a good review :)

Blessed be 3 Pounds Of Love! I haven't heard this one yet. Anyway, everything that Neurot produces is gold, without exception, but only for "trained" ears...

Well done, Kristen, you finally honor us with your review, and what a beautiful review it is! Finally, everyone will move over here; lately, I struggled to open the page on the latest from Love, it was too heavy! :D

Noir Désir are a story unto themselves in the European landscape. I hold them in high regard. I would describe this album as rather lyrical compared to the coordinates they have already demonstrated in the past. Instead, I recommend "Tostaky" from 1992, their masterpiece, which is more vibrant, edgy, and focused. The live album "Dies Irae" is also great; it fully expresses the power of this band capable of moving the masses in France (a bit like what Litfiba used to do in their golden days, but with a ton more quality). This was (or rather, was) a tremendously French group, deep down to the core, just left-anarchic enough, and at the same time damn alternative rock. Now, after everything that has happened with Bertrand Cantat (the singer) who beat Trintignant to death (accident or not, the result was this, he ended up with 8 years in prison), this beautiful story has come to an end. A very bad end. I’m sorry to say, but ultimately all this is terribly rock'n'roll, isn’t it? Anyway, this album is still very interesting, especially for the lyrics... I don’t know, find me another band in Europe that writes lyrics like this. For those who are curious, I’ve included a track from this album (a classic "NoirDésir" type of lyric) among the deep dives (click the band name in the box below the review). It’s in French, but if you're interested in the meaning, I could possibly do a translation for you... ----- Rohan, it’s clear you like this album, you put more feeling into it. Your musical choices are excellent, but you don’t honor them enough, in the sense that a bit more attention to spelling (where are the accents?) and form (some sentences are awkward), as well as thematic development (on a personal-emotional level and/or biographical level about the subject) would attract more enjoyable comments and debates on your reviews and the albums you choose, satisfying both you and the other users of debaser. Next time, be more focused, okay? I’m counting on it :)
