Boosta, as many of you might know, is none other than the keyboardist of Subsonica. Iconoclash is his solo side project.
Boosta admits to having remained in love with the '80s sound, so he decided to remake some Italian songs and others in his own interpretation...
The result...?
Well, it’s a bit difficult to answer that question. The album flows quite well, catchy, sometimes even amusing... but in the end, it leaves you with a bit of a bitter taste and also a small question buzzing in your head: couldn’t something better have been done?
In my judgment, some songs are very successful (I Like Chopin - Rock 'n' Robot - A Berlino va Bene - L'Estate Sta Finendo and Milano e Vincenzo, practically the first tracks of the album).
The others unfortunately turn out to be a bit monotonous and boring (maybe also because the pieces he worked on are not special...).
The Debaser rating?? Well, I grant it a pass, so a 3 out of 5.
Ah, I almost forgot, don’t forget to listen to the hidden track at number 66, Landscape, the most alternative piece and, in my opinion, the best executed!
