One Dimensional Man You Kill Me

Are you sure, Brak, that nobody knows them? I had the DeGlaen perform during a reading by Enrico Brizzi here in Lugano 8 years ago, the show was called "Subbuteo". And a few months later at an open-air event I organized in a castle... but are they still around? I thought they had split up. I'm very curious about your review, I'm waiting... :))

Yeah, but when is this ZachDeLARocha going to decide to come out, huh? How much longer is he going to make us wait, ugh!

Fortunately, in this field, I limit myself to the sound and not the lyrics... heheheheh

Well Francis, you HAD to do it, right? :))) I adore Bolan, he made me swoon as a child. He was gorgeous and super cool (in my young eyes), I got so excited over Children Of Revolution, 20th Century Boy, Bang A Gong... I always get emotional when talking about Bolan! (Zzzz I’ll send you the copy, I promise! Sorry I haven’t done it yet...)

Caz, you forgot to mention Uncle Howie records (nonphixion), the junkie uncle of Necro and Ill Bill, the crew's fetish, an icon of white trash... this story is so sick. Did you know that NonPhixion had a big contract with Geffen that didn’t have the guts to publish the album? The little brothers bought the book "everything you need to know about the music business" and did everything their own way... much better that way!

I really like this review, not only because it's written by Taunus :D but also because it focuses on Debaser's two most hated genres: metal and hip hop. Not only that, but these two genres also hate each other (at least the metalheads hate hip hop)... However, this album is incredibly interesting, full of perspectives – of course, "particular" perspectives – but it’s the perfect marriage between the genres, apocalyptic and brutally innovative, and also very elegant, with style, even though it’s a pure concentrate of testosterone. So I would wholeheartedly recommend it to metalheads. Open your mind!

R.E.M. Around The Sun

I completely agree with Hal. When I was selling records, I learned not to judge the taste and perceptions of others when it comes to music. I also learned to have patience and understanding when customers wanted to convince me about the quality of certain records that I couldn't stand (just to name one, Dream Theater). ---- As for R.E.M... what a relief to say they no longer convince me! Some tracks on this album are really beautiful, but they are too few to scream miracle. In the past, R.E.M. had mastered the magical art of threading—an album is like a necklace—one stunning pearl after another, thus producing unparalleled, balanced records (Automatic For the People is a milestone masterpiece in this regard). With the last one and this one, however, they place themselves back on the same level as many bands, with 4-5 well-crafted songs amidst absolutely forgettable ones. I also have to say that here the most inspired is only Stipe; it’s the others who are underwhelming, as if they were playing "seated" and bored. So, to conclude, that sense of continuity and the band’s peculiarities (the quality balance of the tracks on the old albums and the precious inspirational balance among the various band members) are clearly missing from this album. This is an observation, not a contempt, nor a judgment dictated by trends; it’s my feelings speaking.
Giorgio Gaber Io non mi sento italiano
Voto:
My attention to Gaber has been sporadic; I’ve mostly seen him live in theater a couple of times (he regularly came to Lugano), but when he passed away, I felt bad, as if I had lost a beloved uncle who always made me laugh... I have this album, but I can’t find it anymore, damn it, there’s that song I liked so much, L'illogica allegria, beautiful, reassuring, bright, if I'm not mistaken an old piece, which he revisited here in a more "modern" version. This review is very welcome; in these times it's essential to remember the words and thoughts of an artist (along with Lucarini) who could, with charisma and engagement, make his audience reflect. Thank you, Grass.
