If you had happened to attend any political demonstration (or even at a stadium during a red-flag game), you would know very well what happens during these "events"! And they are certainly not symposia of gentlemen meeting for tea. A nasty, extremely ugly incident that I am ashamed of as an Italian. An incident with no saints or heroes. Forget about law enforcement, forget about protesters: these people considered that everything was allowed during the demonstration. From both sides. The protesters at Diaz did not beat each other to a pulp on their own. The cars on the street, the shop windows, the neighborhoods did not undergo processes of self-combustion. What’s the difference between hitting a police officer or hitting a protester? Reasoning like "the one in the blue uniform/Che shirt is my enemy, just because" is no more evolved than animal instincts for survival. Beasts. And don’t come and tell me that the fault lies with the police officers who charged or with the protesters. Nonsense! A minimum of awareness is needed in what you do.
