1) The book, known here on deb thanks to the splendid and incisive review by the wonderful and sharp bartolo, is a marvel.
2) The film truly loses a lot. I tried in every way not to compare it to Foer's masterpiece, but I found it really difficult. It goes without saying that it left me with nothing.

One of the most repetitive, tensionless, and sugary films I've seen. Boyle alternates between great films (Trainspotting and 28 Days Later) and colossal flops (this, Sunshine, and the terrible The Beach). I don't know how he managed to get all these Oscars; it's a mystery.
