LA RECENSIONE

In the end, after 7 years, it's here. The new album by Albini's Shellac is finally a reality.

What the hell is there to say?

If you don’t know Steve Albini, you’re either a succulent plant or you’d better quickly leave this (terrible) page and shoot yourself in the head.

If you know him, then you know what I'm talking about and we can become best friends, have a beer together, and sleep with the same girl (preferably not my mother).

Dude Incredible is mathematical precision, 9 icy compositions, perfectly crafted by a trio that over the years has refined a style made of stop and go, syncopated rhythms, twisted beats, and destructive sounds.

What the hell is there to say, then?

When I hear songs like this, I feel like burying myself. Three musicians who alternate and merge as if they had one mind. Drums and bass create a schizophrenic rhythm section, always evolving. Steve’s guitar is less sharp than usual and a bit buried in the mix, but everything sounds exceptionally dirty.

A trio of bastards capable of crucifying at least 90% of current bands.

But don't expect any novelty, just the culmination of a coherent and increasingly perfect artistic journey.

Listening to Shellac, you have the certainty of hearing music that has to be this way, because it just has to be. Like when you listen to Unsane, Jesus Lizard, or Mudhoney.

You already know what to expect. You already know you'll like it.

Lots of hard hitting.

And a precision I didn't think could exist...

...unless we start talking about tits and asses.
