I quote Bartle, there’s disco and disco clearly... but the things we consider the best should be savored slowly... I mean, everyone does what they want obviously, but personally, if I buy a cd like, let’s say, Sgt. Pepper, I dedicate at least a month to listening to it... I don’t even feel like buying/downloading anything else in the meantime... I couldn’t possibly listen to Zeppelin’s discography in a week... not because I have my own ideas about the records, but because in each album you find so many emotions/shades/impressions that I would feel like I’m not fully enjoying the music...

nice discussion: I’m one of those who has never downloaded an album... my method is to listen to samples (on myspace or youtube) and if I like it, then I buy the original cd (in a year I’ll buy about thirty cds...) now I already anticipate the response for the usual nitpickers who will say: "oh, you listen on youtube, what a disgrace and blah blah blah" you can tell good songwriting even on youtube, screw the sound quality... if I then get the cd and the sounds improve, even better... for the last radiohead album, youtube is enough to understand that the songwriting is mediocre... Bleach is recorded like crap, but if you write great songs it doesn't matter, the album rocks... anyway, everyone do what they want... music on cd, for me, is more enjoyable... record labels aren’t investing a dime anymore, nowadays every band pays for everything out of their own pocket, whether you download or not... of course if you then buy the cd, it won’t hurt them...
