Wow, very interesting analysis. Nothing to say about the film, it's a cult classic. With "To Live and Die in L.A." Friedkin will do even better in my opinion. Besides "Killer Joe", I found "The Hunted", with Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio Del Toro, to be very valid and underrated.

The tension created in the scene where they are stopped in the car at the border would be enough to give the film a 5. From the tunnel onwards, it's pure spectacle. Direction of the highest class, mind-blowing aerial shots, stunning cinematography. For me, it's the film of the year. And I say this having already seen the latest Tarantino.

I like it less than vol.1; I find it more rambling and pretentious. All my acquaintances and the Verdena themselves, with whom I went out to dinner one evening, much prefer this one. So evidently, I'm the jerk. It must be said that Nera Visione is truly a masterpiece; it’s strange you didn’t mention it.
