Gareth Edwards Rogue One

Seen, digested, reflected upon. First: don't ever try to put me on the same level as Edwards and that idiot Blomkamp. Seriously: never try that again.
Second: the film cost a fortune (200 million) and too often that doesn't show. It has a consistent aesthetic identity, it's pleasant to look at and all that we want, but there are several scenes where the sets look like those from a B-movie from the 90s (there’s one where a character is introduced at the beginning of the film set in an alley… that one really sucks, and even the alien sleeping in the cell with the protagonist at the start of the film has something off in its execution - to put it simply, "it's obvious from a mile away that it's fake" - and then there are other scattered things that I can't recall at the moment but which made me think until I checked IMDb that the film cost a pittance compared to the episodes of the official series).
Beyond that, coming from someone who last enjoyed watching Star Wars while playing with He-Man and the Exogorths, I believe it’s the best film in the entire series. Sure, the first three are more important and fundamental (this wouldn’t even exist without them...) Sure, the episodes from one to three are... well, I don’t know how to continue this sentence; as far as I'm concerned, this film devours all three of them for breakfast. Sure, episode seven... well, we can just say that episode seven has more fan service compared to this (but that's not even true, it’s not true!!!).
Then, oh, there’s a frame where a procession of droids, or just people totally dehumanized with helmets on their heads, moves towards the camera in a single file, arranged on the right side of the screen. Behind them, the desert. In the sky, on the upper left part of the screen, an Imperial cruiser is moving away. And nothing. It reminded me of this Ingrandisci questa immagine and I ripped the seat in front of me. Maybe it’ll be a trip all my own, I don't doubt that, but still.

As far as I'm concerned, it's the best power epic album ever conceived. It has everything: driving tracks, emotional pieces, choirs, a singer who thinks first about performing and then about singing, the sounds of swords and shields in the background, epic keyboards, the symphonic parentheses (more or less)... not that power epic is my favorite genre, but still, being the best at something is still something.

From the Feltrinelli "everything for five euros" bin, yesterday I took home: How to Train Your Dragon, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and ParaNorman. This one I don't think was there, and anyway I was out with twenty euros.

The demo of Portal has been republished under the moniker Cynic. I'm just mentioning it in case anyone is interested; it's a great album, much better than Traced in Air. Cynic (2) - The Portal Tapes at Discogs And I just found out that they also released this stuff which I believe I haven't listened to at all: Cynic (2) - Kindly Bent To Free Us (CD, Album) at Discogs

I was looking at the photo of the artwork... A vinyl of In Flames has the same specific weight as the vegan salad from McDonald’s.
