I don't know if Woodstock wasn't mainstream; if it wasn't, then neither were many of those mentioned above... but I'd say yes, Woodstock was a well-promoted festival. A mainstream festival. And it was in 1969. From then on, those who participated went from being mainstream to becoming (in the '70s and even beyond) rock legends. Anyway, I repeat, if you want to keep arguing among yourselves, I'll step back immediately. Just, reading your discussion, this thought came to mind and I wanted to propose it to you. Do you not find it satisfying? Okay, peace and amen.

Guys, sorry for the talk about the Nirvana underground, I think it could be summed up like this: Nirvana played what was underground music in the '80s; and then in the '90s, thanks to them (Nirvana), it became mainstream. If people would stop considering mainstream as shit all the time, it would be better — they would enjoy more things. For example, Tokio Hotel is mainstream shit. Red Hot Chili Peppers and Depeche Mode are mainstream that is worth listening to. Sure, there might be more unique and original music in the underground scene, but rejecting the mainstream out of hand seems ridiculous to me. Also because the mainstream of the '70s corresponds to the best period of rock music (Hendrix, Patty Smith, Black Sabbath, Rolling Stones, Creedence, Eric Clapton, Saimonengarfanchel [I don't know how to spell Garfanchel], Grand Funk Railroad, etc., etc. weren't exactly niche artists.)

muffin now, being filthy... but does your musical culture stop at Zappa, Hendrix, Velvet Underground? I must have overestimated you, obviously. Anyway, everyone has their own ideas and is free to have them. Of course, you can say that Cobain was filthy, that’s a matter of taste.

Franci, are you talking to me? No, because I never said grunge never dies. I only said that Cobain wasn't a loser...
