Joel & Ethan Coen Barton Fink - E' Successo a Hollywood

for me one of their worst, it makes me sick. just a simple man I liked even less. Everything else they've done is, in my opinion, miles ahead (at least).

I remember their quotes about "Alita" and the fact that I had a duplicated cassette from who-knows-who with who-knows-what album inside (maybe even this one, I went to check out the discography but no title rings a bell). I also remember that I didn't really care for them, but back then I was listening to some truly awful stuff. Maybe you’re right, and like the Riot from "inishmore," in a more meritocratic world they would have had more success. The fact remains that it’s stuff I wouldn’t even listen to under torture today. A bit like Running Wild, Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, and those other three bands you mentioned at the end of your review, and if I even try to write their names, I get an attack of squaraus and need to go buy Imodium right away.

"The plot itself is funny but made sense in a comic" means nothing. The references to concentration camps are in the comic; in the film, they were "transformed" into references to Guantanamo. I'm not asking for much, but watching the movie before reviewing it wouldn't be a bad idea, especially if you have to review it with some worthless fake (worthless in the sense of useless).

I haven't seen it and I want to see it, I haven't read the review because, precisely, I haven't seen the film yet. I just wanted to say "no, but Ben Affleck is a capable director... how many pistachios would you have bet six years ago? I would say zero, considering how much I like pistachios." So, does anyone know if it's already out on DVD?

The film is overrated because it’s talked about as a masterpiece, and this is more or less an objective fact that I certainly share. To label it simply as a kids' movie, however, doesn’t mean to provide a review; it just means wanting to say: I am more alternative than you. As the person above said, it is a product more than dignified. Relating back to the above comment: the film was a bit of a flop when it came out because it was 2001, and I don’t know how many Americans were in the mood to joke about fate turning into a plane that crashes.

Of the first Coen film, it's the one I prefer after Blood Simple. It starts as a gangster movie, ends as a comedy, and in between references half the history of cinema in one big discourse on the possibilities of expression of the cinematic medium. Great, truly great. PS: I found BF a bit disappointing, but I didn't know it was the result of writer's block... So far, I'm at 3 films out of 3 born from writer's block that, in my opinion, could have perfectly remained in the directors' “will do” drawer. PPS: "I think The Big Lebowski sucks" is something you just can't read, even if you absolutely love this alternative film: you understand nothing, there's no other way to put it. First, you learn to do addition, then multiplication. Knowing how to do nine times seven doesn't equate to knowing all the multiplication tables and being able to handle mathematics.
