Yage The Woodlands of Old

-3- no absolutely not.. they are very distant albums. -6- I agree dead cities was a major album and deserves a place in this "top", but I would prioritize lifeforms which in my opinion is even superior to dead cities! -10- I don't think so ;) if you've heard the releases under the name AA, I would say definitely not since they are completely different from the productions under the name fsol and follow a very 60s psychedelic rock sound with plenty of sitar never proposed in the 90s (by them).. whereas the latest ones (unreleased tracks and pieces circulated in the isdn shows and podcasts) are also different, they are doing some very interesting jazz/electronic experimental stuff (an album in this style is in the works) that definitely can be close to some similar past experiments (isdn album) but are nonetheless different since now they are following a more acoustic/jammed "fusion" path and much less "quantized" electronic than in the 90s. Secondly, they are exploring ambient territories (like in the two enviroments albums including vol.3 which is coming out in a few days) that are very eno modernized, and less abstract/electronic than the similar ambient of lifeforms. The recent experiments on fsoldigital deserve attention and I recommend listening to the recent album "The San Monta Tapes" with the aka heads of agreement, a completely new polyrhythmic experiment compared to the 90s sound. So I believe (maybe I'm wrong?) that you haven't had the chance to hear the latest works (which are quite a few, it's hard to keep up with fsol), because if we can somewhat agree on the reviewed pieces one way or another (after all, old tracks like mykingdom and egypt vaguely recall the style of woodlands of old) the same cannot be said for the numerous recent works. ;)

The world of music is also made of this, starting from the legends (Bowie, the new wave scene...): metalheads, gothic stuff, punk intellectuals, pop stars, rappers bling-bling, newavers. Okay, it's true... but I assure you, there are plenty of people who don’t care about their image, even among the categories mentioned above (except for metalheads, who are the epitome of image).

Scary hot but a terrible artist, as well as overrated, the classic case of all image and zero substance. If you like this style, I recommend looking for something by Unter Null (now part of the Alfa Matrix label) which is not only cooler (http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/6166/frontic5.jpg) but also hits hard! |||

I don't understand what the problem is if harem78 only reviews this group. In my opinion, it's commendable to review discographies (a bit like Scaruffi) rather than flooding us with duplicates..! anyway, I've never heard of them.

Great album, one of the last truly strong works by the br who have somewhat lost their way with the new millennium. Clearly, as already mentioned, many steps below the duo nocontrol-suffer.

of course, citing Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam (the same old stuff for 13-year-olds) as something superior to 883 is the height of absurdity
