Julie Taymor Across The Universe

masterpiece of the genre. Of course, if someone doesn't like musicals, they shouldn't watch it, but the film is a true gem.

I'm struggling to go below a 5. I give high marks even to the reviews, even if I don't agree on a couple of points: I really like Evan Rachel Wood's voice; it's clean and emotional. And it's not like the original version of "Blackbird" was a rock arrangement monster, while I won't comment on "If I Fell." In short, I like her a lot. I also agree about "Mr. Kite": it's the worst scene in the movie. Nevertheless, truly beautiful.

the review is a bit sparse but it deserves a 3.5. I completely agree that the first two tracks are on a higher level, but since I own the repertoire CD (with the unreleased tracks) my rating goes up to 4.7. the beauty of prisoner and grail is almost breathtaking, delicate and never pompous, and the voice is very "on point". there are definitely connections to the moody blues, but they, if they had existed for more than "a one-hit wonder," are in my opinion on a higher level.

disk of rare beauty, I agree with the "yorkeite" of the singer, but compared to the great Radiohead, here emotions are gifted in abundance. I eagerly await their upcoming work (I reserve a spot for the review) and to see them in Milan in April. obviously gazpacho IS a song by Marillion, they started out as a cover band but soon found their own identity. even today, however, they are in the orbit of Marillion, so much so that they release under Racket Records.

dsalva, look, it wasn't a veiled criticism of album 2, simply there is a substantial difference in approach between the two. The first is a concept album, very homogeneous also in terms of musical "tones" (with a title track that, in my opinion, deserves a spot in the all-time top 10 Marillion), while the second is a collection of songs, with some gems and a few slight dips in quality (but very slight, never below full sufficiency). However, Asylum and Marzipan are stratospheric, and Real Tears for Sale is worth the price of admission. I just want to add that (it’s news from yesterday) Marillion has realized the mistake of not selling it in stores, and starting from February Happiness is the Road will be distributed by EMI worldwide. Final note: the artwork of the box set: a masterpiece within a masterpiece, thanks to an artist like Antonio Seijas (look him up on his website, he’s amazing).

you could have given more, but the album is still a great debut.

don’t touch Peppino Impastato, I’ll crush it and Giordana. A masterpiece, rhetorical when necessary and Manichean just enough. And La meglio gioventù is another masterpiece. That’s it!!!

the review is pretty awful, even considering the age of the reviewer (let's say 2.5, the mistakes and clichés are plenty). the album can't be worth less than 5. sure, there wasn't a need for yet another review of animals, but if someone feels the sacred fire within (especially for certain music) I don’t agree with dismissing it. rather, review yourself and learn from your mistakes.

There are two possibilities: either you are a professor of Greek literature at the university or you copied some excerpts from a review somewhere :-) Jokes aside (and errors as well; I was ready to dive into corrections, but you've already taken care of that), the review is "spot on" and the masterpiece is absolutely timeless. I get chills just thinking about the dramatic power of Sophocles (but Aeschylus isn’t to be underestimated either, in fact). Shakespeare would never have existed without the great Greeks.

What can I say, batpluto, I’m glad you’ve changed your mind. I’m not exactly very impartial (for example, I’m the first to admit that Somewhere Else is a forgettable album) but this is definitely an album that "grows" with each listen.
