Oh really? I interpreted it differently :-))) He says "friend is a 4 letter word / 'end' is the only part of the word that I heard." I made a movie about it: she left him saying "to me, you are like a friend," "friend," or rather "FRI - E N D" because for him that word unfortunately only means "the end" (of the story), "end." So the letters of the word are four: "FRI" (considered one because it doesn't count), "E," "N," "D." Mmmmmmmm I was so convinced, don't break my illusion please.

:D Vale, you're killing me! You really did it this time! I was listening to this record in the car just yesterday. I've always loved Friend Is A Four Letter Word, especially when I figured out what the hell the lyrics meant ;-) And yesterday I was actually thinking how much I'd love to be part of a cover band of theirs; I bet it would be a blast playing those gems that are their songs... "you think she's an open book / but you don't know which page to turn to, do you?"

Matt Harding has long been in the back rows of my buylist, alongside many other names of folk-tronic singer-songwriters (like the Weevil, whom I thought of while reading you). There were no other elements that would authorize me to pull him out of that limbo; your review (excellent, though not among your best...) speaks of a "whispered" voice that might help... samples?
