Francesco De Gregori Pezzi
Voto:
Primiballi's reasoning makes perfect sense, but in my opinion, there is also an "absolute" value, and the current Dylan-esque De Gregori can be more accurately summarized with a 4 rather than a 5, a rating that would be more suitable for the poetic De Gregori of "Rimmel" and "Alice non lo sa." This album, which I discovered only several months after its release, seems to me a worthy continuation of the excellent "Amore nel pomeriggio." A thorough review, but (in my opinion) spoiled by the examination of the tracks one by one and, moreover, in a row, which makes it a bit too schematic.

Moreover, the " English ingenue" is actually Irish and cut her teeth in a historic Celtic folk group, Clannad, back in the '80s. Far from being music for repressed housewives. We really can't agree on this. Anyway, to overcome your dreadful prejudices against poor Enya, I suggest you start with the first two albums "Watermark" and "Shepherd Moons" (as Michi also says). Then we can talk about it again, perhaps in a more serene and aware manner. You know what really angers me about this review? That usually your critiques are well-founded. This, however, seems like a mere outburst.

I still don't know the album in question, but I think that sooner or later I will listen to it, being one of those "Tavor-dependent" who have been following this wonderful artist, cultured yet popular, since 1988 (Watermark). It’s true that since the penultimate "A Day Without Rain," she has shown some wear of the formulas that produced the magical balance of the early albums (especially the first two), and I wouldn't exclude that this decline continued in this latest album, but that doesn’t give anyone (even if they are called The Punisher) the right to completely dismiss her entire career based on just one album that turned out a bit worse (if that's even true) in a completely arbitrary manner, and especially without any argument, but only with a series of invectives. Terrible review.

Before someone else corrects me: I meant to say "if I had lived in the 1800s." The first half is a bit lacking.

Lino Banfi secretly entered my mind (oh my gosh, how scary!) and made me write "tesche," which obviously stands for pockets. I take this opportunity to send my best wishes to you and to the entire "loggione" of classic lovers on Debaser.

If I had lived in the first half of the 1800s as the conservative (musically speaking) person that I am, I would have supported the faction of Brahms and the followers of tradition, who fought against the spectacular innovations of Liszt, Berlioz, and (later) Wagner to maintain the purity of classicism even in 19th-century music. This does not prevent me from appreciating many works by Liszt, particularly the two Concertos and the Sonata, but also the Transcendental Études, the Sonetti del Petrarca, and other small pieces. The Liszt that convinces me less is the pompous one of the symphonic poems, but when it comes to the piano, you can always feel that it is an instrument he knew like the back of his hand. I am not familiar with this work, but the review, excellent as usual, also seems to me like an excellent recommendation for a purchase.
Lucio Dalla Dalla
Voto:
The last piece of the triptych, as Enea calls it, I find to be a bit inferior to the other two ("Come è profondo il mare" and "Lucio Dalla 1979"), perhaps due to a somewhat forced optimism towards the future, which is still welcome if it gives us tracks like "Futura," unfortunately far removed from the miserable Dalla of today. I’ve found that the cece has been a bit stingy for a while now, which doesn’t work in his favor for someone as loquacious as me, but it's just a subjective matter.

I agree. Justice has been served: judging such an album with a 3 frankly didn't make sense.

Two beautiful reviews in a day on the same Gaber album. Two beams of intelligence that momentarily illuminate the dense darkness of collective pre-Christmas stupidity, inviting us to think about how it would have pleased G.G.. We really needed them.

Aeneas, you're always witty, but you understood perfectly. Anyway, I reiterate: the review would be a 3 if it were the first one. One point is deducted for being a rather (if not entirely) useless triple. At least for me, that is clear. Others, however, have been harsh, saying it's garbage and giving it a 1.
