To the stern Lucabbrasi, with a fearsome name: if you read the review, the word "jazz" was perhaps used carelessly, but always subordinate to the word "pop." So, in practice, I agree with you: this is pop, even if in a jazzed-up form. As Blackcrow has rightly pointed out, my heart beats elsewhere, but every now and then I remember these good "cool" aesthetes who, as Socrates aptly said, brought real instruments back to prominence after the drunkenness of punk distortions, helping to sweeten that not-so-great period for musical quality (though not as empty as they say).

Wow, so it's possible? Juve and Palermo: it's possible, it's possible, mandatory freedom... to quote the good Gaber.

Well, being Florentine it's hard to be otherwise. However, I am moderate and honest: last night you ridiculed us. Given your origins, I wouldn't have called you "gobbo," but rather rosanero, yet it is known that all poets lack a verse. My esteem remains unchanged. The more I listen to this Enya, the more it seems passable to me.

Finally, I held it in my hands. First impressions: as expected, it's leaning a bit too much on its usual style, but it still manages to maintain an acceptable quality. Let's hope for a turnaround starting from the next one, because it's clearly on the decline (like Toni, alas).
Mark Knopfler Golden Heart
Voto:
Always a bit too undervalued by critics, Mark Knopfler post-Dire Straits, not to mention his work as a soundtrack composer, which I defended in the past against the scathing accusation of being a "poor man's Morricone" in a review of mine. Perhaps the only thing missing here is a spark of genius, but the album is excellent and technically flawless, the perfect follow-up to the last Dire Straits album "On Every Street," which was also unjustly scorned by many critics.

Clear: even in my case, who cares about my review, but giving 1 to Debussy's Preludes for piano, to Bill Evans, the poet of jazz, to Blue by Joni Mitchell, a historic album, to Brahms performed by Glenn Gould, etc., means that the bastard and those like him haven't heard a single note of the records they've crushed. And that’s what infuriates the most. The "glory of assholes" (I quote Guccini) of having the review in the rankings comes and goes, but masterpieces remain.
Dire Straits Sultans Of Swing - The Very Best Of - (De Luxe Edition)

Suggestion: unless there are other collections and bootlegs of Dire Straits, once you're done with Mark Knopfler's solo work and the excellent western adventure of the Notting Hillbillies, I would start exploring a very adjacent territory, which is that of Eric Clapton in the '70s and the oft-overlooked J.J. Cale.
Johann Sebastian Bach Passacaglia in do minore BWV 582 per organo

Schubert was able to think of both at the same time. In fact, he wrote a beautiful String Quartet called "Death and the Maiden" (back then, the language was more human).
Francesco De Gregori Alice non lo sa
Voto:
I commented on "Alice" just a few seconds after my comment on the "pecorone" album, so I got a bit confused with "Cercando un altro Egitto." This doesn’t change the value of this review, which is really low (and I rarely give a 1!).
Giorgio Gaber Io non mi sento italiano
Voto:
As Silvio does when he leaves Parliament, I don't vote due to an evident conflict of interest (the other review of the same album is mine). I’ll just say that the album is the testament of a free spirit, and for that reason I believe it deserves a 5, even though it's true that Gaber has done even better work. A review that stands on its own and, most importantly, doesn’t repeat anything from mine, so it's a "duplicate" that is far from useless.
