Self-referential comment: Paolo Conte is a great artist, all his albums are excellent, BUT the best arrangements are in his Live albums. I've seen him 4-5 times live in theater (always exceptional) and once outdoors (terrible, it doesn't suit him) and every time - aside from the more or less different setlist - he was able to deliver different versions of the songs. A true Master, well supported.

Very true. Although I wouldn't know how to compare theater and outdoor performances, since I've only seen it once and indoors. The greatest merit of a singer-songwriter, in my opinion, is to surpass the studio versions live; the same can be said for Branduardi. Anyway, even in the studio, he was excellently supported; if a record from '81 hasn’t lost anything in 30 years, it means that those who supported it did a worthy job. Take "Boogie," and you could mistake it for a track recorded just yesterday. A small note, also self-serving: Lele Melotti and Jimmy Villotti were and remain among the best studio musicians in Italy.
