Great vibe with my friend Keith Moon. Unique, I’d say, to step onto a stage at a Led Zeppelin concert. Inglewood, June 23, 1977, during that damn tour full of chaos and tragedy. He sat beside John for three songs “playing” a drum and a couple of cymbals... A Story of Friends.

“I was shocked by the sound he was able to get out of that little drum kit” Dave Mattacks

“Rock’n’Roll died the day John Bonham died” Billy Joel

Bonzo was a fan of James Brown... at a festival where both were performing, the three drummers of the Afro-American musician were left in disbelief, watching him play and wondering how it was possible that he alone produced the equivalent of what they did in three,

Pete Brown & Piblokto! - Things May Come and Things May Go (...) (Full Album 1970) - I have never heard this work, but from the snippets I've listened to, it seems like a very "Free" piece, truly a work from beyond the mirror, perhaps @[IlConte] is familiar with it.

Pat and John got married at 17 while she was expecting Jason. John worked in the morning and played in the evening to support the family and pay for the trailer they lived in... he even stopped playing for a while, but it didn’t last long. Already in the two years prior, he had played in the major bands in the area (twice with Plant); he played too loud, and at a certain point, several venue owners didn't want the bands he played in... but the best bands wanted him... a dog chasing its tail. His nickname Bonzo was born during that time; a gentle and calm cartoon dog just like John Henry's character—a quiet, friendly, and kind guy. Shortly after, the story begins with the Zepp, the continuous tours, and the immediate overwhelming success. John wasn't prepared, and so he began to transform into The Beast to forget the absence of home, family, farm, and pub friends.
Without half measures, like me, excessive, like me. Destructive, unmanageable, a party animal with the roadies and Richard Cole—every opportunity was ideal for losing control and not thinking.
You know the anecdotes; there are various dozens... the well-known ones.
Cole was in jail at Regina Coeli when his boy died... and when a guard went to tell him that his boy was dead, he said, “poor Pagey, I knew it”... but it was Bonzo...

Déficit Des Années Antérieures - Reality Of The Move my friends, we are well beyond the mirror that has shattered into tiny pieces, pieces that reflect reality in the sky, the largest mirror known. With our mouths agape, we feel so small, we think of the vastness of infinity and we would like to name a star after our love.

The poetic penguin coffee (1.11)

My companions drove me mad
with compasses, theodolites, sextants
and telescopes that magnified objects —
it was better they kept their distance.
On these streets, where do we go?
Even that day that began
has perhaps not yet faded away,
with that fire in an abyss like a rose
with that sea suspended beneath God's feet.

"Bu t first, I had to get through the bachelor party. It was just me, John Bonham, and a driver. We went to several bars around Birmingham, and at the last one we found just before closing time, John said, 'Let’s have one last drink.'
Alright, one last drink... he lined up 12 bottles of Champagne and 12 glasses on that damn bar and told the bartender, 'Pour.' I thought he wanted to buy drinks for everyone, but instead, he said, 'It's for you.' 'Fuck you, John, I’m getting married tomorrow...'
'Okay, I'll drink it then.' Which he did....
The place was about to close, John grabbed the owner by the neck and rolled him down the stairs.... with the help of the driver, I managed to get him home... he couldn’t find his keys, I knocked, but Pat didn’t want to let him in the house.... 'Okay, but leave him on the first floor to sleep.' 'You won't be coming tomorrow, right?!' 'I'll be there'... I thought, 'John won’t show up, and I’ll end up without a witness.'
At eight o’clock on the dot, I see him walking up my driveway in a top hat and tails, all spruced up, 'I’m ready, and you?!'

From Tony Iommi's autobiography... great friends.

A few years ago, a dear friend in the industry invited me to a party/event/night that I already hated... I was already quite tipsy and he introduced me to some young musicians. A couple of them were young drummers – they said they were amazing – who were practicing like crazy; one Italian from Milan and the other German. The Italian mainly played funky rock rap and the German jazz rock. They both told me that it doesn't matter what you play... if you’re a drummer, Bonham is an absolute benchmark... and all his story of being self-taught, his obsession with swing and jazz with his idols Krupa and the gang... and his love for funk and Motown...
I was wonderfully impressed, they knew more than I did... meanwhile, I was already completely fried...

"No t the 'best,' not the most technical, not even the fastest or the most precise or elegant - all characteristics that are, by the way, way too limiting -
Just and undeniably the Greatest without ifs and buts for everything he has given to Rock, the one with blood, and to the instrument... that even today drummers study John Henry...
Legends then shouldn't need speeches, but anyway...
Now let's go and break everything" (quote from Il Conte)

It is said that at my 40th birthday party - and therefore at Bonzo's too - I said more or less this while standing on the tables. Now I don’t remember, and I don’t even know how the others remember considering the excesses... but I can believe it.

12°: NOVE
And so Ivan also ended up in the whirlwind of 80s music, with its pop keyboards and the desire to have fun without a care in the world. And Nove is the album that marks the beginning of our most pop period. An album that has the great quality of conveying through its tracks what Ivan felt back then, that is, the urge to express himself openly, simply saying what he wanted to say; but despite this, it remains an album too standardized to appeal to the masses of those years, with tracks that, while retaining Ivan's essence, sound too commercial (Minù Minù, Gangsters) when they don't come off as terribly cheesy (Limiti is perhaps the most glaring example, a banal text with good intentions). To be fair, there are also some nice tracks carefully arranged and written; one could mention, for example, the crazy story of Io che c'entro or the romantic issues in Blouson noir, not to mention the final Lucetta fra le stelle, in which Ivan manages to maintain his originality while still being commercial. We’re not talking about a bad album here, just an album composed specifically to appeal to the masses, partly out of obligation and partly out of challenge.

The gem: Lucetta Fra Le Stelle

For demographic reasons, I only had the chance to see them when they were already old and washed up. What a shame: seeing them, and especially hearing them so badass, genuinely surprised me and in a way... moved me. Without malice, but they evoke more tenderness than anything else.
