THE REVIEW

When it comes to (What's the story) Morning Glory?, the second studio album by OASIS, we are talking about a true masterpiece, an album that has made and will make music history, one of those that everyone should have in their record collection.
The release of WTSMG (October 2, 1995) was highly anticipated as the successor to Definitely Maybe, the much-appreciated debut album by the Manchester band, and it completely lived up to the expectations of fans and critics.
The album begins with "Hello", a song full of rhythm and adrenaline but with melancholy as the dominant factor of the melody, and decisively continues with the britpop sounds (a mix between rock'n'roll and '70s music) that have made OASIS one of the most appreciated bands in the world. It contains songs that have become legendary like Don't look back in anger and Wonderwall (according to Paul McCartney, one of the best songs ever written) which reached first and second place respectively in the UK charts. Furthermore, there are tracks like Some might say (which also reached number one in the charts) and She's electric, which perfectly synthesize the britpop genre.
The record closes with Champagne Supernova, released as a single in Australia, which was also part of the soundtrack for the film Goal!.
WTSMG, with over 20 million copies sold, is to date the second best-selling British album of all time, behind Sgt. Pepper by the Beatles, and it has collected no less than 14 platinum discs.

Curiosity: during the recording of the album, Noel Gallagher decided to fire drummer Tony McCarrol (replaced by Alan White) because he was not considered capable of handling the entire album repertoire.

Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back In Anger are untouchable, timeless masterpieces.

The great success of this CD is deserved, but from here to say that it is a timeless masterpiece is a bit too far.

"You realize you don’t need a perfect knowledge of the instrument to write beautiful acoustic gems like 'Wonderwall' and 'Cast No Shadow'."

"I’ll keep my beloved idiots who don’t write ‘songs’ for idiots but rather, they write FANTASTIC ‘songs’ for idiots."

So I see them and I say "Let's give these sacks of shit a chance"...

I was so disgusted that I switched to ReteAllmusic...

We are faced with an absolute masterpiece, a page of history, a symbol of mid-’90s England, the highest point reached by Oasis.

The most beautiful piece in the career of the Manchester group is ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’... the memorable solo of this song is something absolutely unique.

The 12 gems contained in the album enter you like water and inevitably leave you with something you cannot erase.

'Wonderwall,' which remains to this day an indescribable song for ordinary people.
