You've probably already gone to see how many stars I give this CD, so I'll explain right away why 4 and not 5 stars. The album starts with Hello and Roll With It, which frankly speaking: are two throwaways. Obviously, Wonderwall and Don't Look Back In Anger are untouchable, timeless masterpieces, which really remind me a lot of the Beatles (an overused comparison, often inappropriately). Then suddenly we return to the most complete mediocrity with Hey Now! and Some Might Say, only to come out of it with Cast No Shadow, and dive back into it with She's Electric and Morning Glory.
Fortunately, it ends beautifully with Champagne Supernova. After this discourse, I could lower my rating even further but, first because it would be unfair, and second because it would be highly unpopular, I don't. After all, all the songs are enjoyable to listen to, even if the four mentioned pieces remain a cut above. The great success of this CD is deserved, but from here to say that it is a timeless masterpiece is a bit too far...
"You realize you don’t need a perfect knowledge of the instrument to write beautiful acoustic gems like 'Wonderwall' and 'Cast No Shadow'."
"I’ll keep my beloved idiots who don’t write ‘songs’ for idiots but rather, they write FANTASTIC ‘songs’ for idiots."
So I see them and I say "Let's give these sacks of shit a chance"...
I was so disgusted that I switched to ReteAllmusic...
We are faced with an absolute masterpiece, a page of history, a symbol of mid-’90s England, the highest point reached by Oasis.
The most beautiful piece in the career of the Manchester group is ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’... the memorable solo of this song is something absolutely unique.
The 12 gems contained in the album enter you like water and inevitably leave you with something you cannot erase.
'Wonderwall,' which remains to this day an indescribable song for ordinary people.
"Wonderwall" is a fundamental song of that entire decade.
"The masterpiece entirely written by Noel Gallagher definitively demonstrates his creative genius."
