THE REVIEW

It's nice to think back to when you were in 1995, with your twelve years, while you were singing along with your little friends the entire discography of 883, sometimes even tuning in to "Certe Notti" but it was still the pop chart-toppers that were in vogue. And then one day, you hear this catchy tune, melodic, the piano intro seems familiar, and that sound isn't quite typical of the music you used to listen to... and that chorus that forced you to sing: "Soooooo Sally can wait...". It got you! And it all ended there, but you know that tune would have a place in your heart...

A few years pass until your best friend comes and tells you: "Oh Ste, I bought the second Oasis CD 'What's The Story Morning Glory', the 1996 one! It's so amazing!", and there your little brain makes some connections among the hits of this group: "Oh yeah the Oasis! The ones from 'Go Let It Out', 'Stand By Me', 'All Around The World'... and then?...1996... Oasis... um... of course! 'Soooooo Sally can wait....'!" You've got it! That CD becomes yours! You realize that they are just simple songs, sure, these five beer chuggers didn't invent anything, yet it must be the power of memories that drives you to make them your own songs! You realize you don't need a perfect knowledge of the instrument to write beautiful acoustic gems like "Wonderwall" and "Cast No Shadow", nor do you need a brilliant lyric when the musical structure is simple and immediate like "Some Might Say" or "Hello". You're moved listening to "Champagne Supernova" and you go wild singing "Roll With It", you have fun with "She's Electric" and then you find out it's copied (like most of the songs) from the Beatles. But you don't care, by now all these songs are the soundtrack of your happy and sad moments, these guys are your idols! And you get pissed off when you hear the whiny/wailing Carmen Consoli calling them "Backstreet Boys with guitars!". And you stand against other music lovers who think you're an idiot listening to "songs" for idiots made by idiots, but who cares! Let them think whatever they like; I'll keep my beloved idiots who don't write "songs" for idiots but rather, they write FANTASTIC "songs" for idiots.

Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back In Anger are untouchable, timeless masterpieces.

The great success of this CD is deserved, but from here to say that it is a timeless masterpiece is a bit too far.

So I see them and I say "Let's give these sacks of shit a chance"...

I was so disgusted that I switched to ReteAllmusic...

We are faced with an absolute masterpiece, a page of history, a symbol of mid-’90s England, the highest point reached by Oasis.

The most beautiful piece in the career of the Manchester group is ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’... the memorable solo of this song is something absolutely unique.

The 12 gems contained in the album enter you like water and inevitably leave you with something you cannot erase.

'Wonderwall,' which remains to this day an indescribable song for ordinary people.

"Wonderwall" is a fundamental song of that entire decade.

"The masterpiece entirely written by Noel Gallagher definitively demonstrates his creative genius."
