This is my first review, so please, do not insult me, neither for my writing nor for my musical tastes: everyone is free to listen to what they want. I know very well, and I will apologize endlessly, that there are countless reviews on the Mancunian bad boy rebels, namely Oasis, but my love for the music of these drunkards is immense, especially for the album of their consecration, in my opinion the best of their career.
Singles like "Wonderwall", "Don't Look Back In Anger", "Champagne Supernova", and many other gems from this album, are not found every day, especially now that superstar singers like Jesse McCartney (unbelievably conceited), Britney Spears (a platinum blonde floozy), and others are around. You could say that back then (I was only 3 years old damn it!!) true music reigned and there was no stardom. If you start listening to this album, you might be dissatisfied with "Hello", a somewhat boring song, but right at track 2, here comes one of the many masterpieces of this album, "Roll With It", lively and wild, yet one of the most hated songs by the same author, The Chief Noel Gallagher. Silence for a moment, a cough, and then it kicks off with Noel's guitar. It's "Wonderwall", the iconic song of Oasis, always written by Noel for his ex-wife Meg Matthews. The cello background is the ideal accompaniment for a relaxing and wonderful track, described by Paul McCartney as "one of the most beautiful songs in history". You move on to "Don't Look Back In Anger", where for the first time Noel sings, and his vocal skills are outstanding. Other beautiful songs are "Some Might Say", "She's Electric", "Morning Glory", and "Champagne Supernova".
An advantage: one is not enough for an album like this.
A flaw: nowadays you don't find great albums like these and the Gallagher brothers' band may not be able to make another one of the same caliber.
But maybe who knows if in the future...
Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back In Anger are untouchable, timeless masterpieces.
The great success of this CD is deserved, but from here to say that it is a timeless masterpiece is a bit too far.
"You realize you don’t need a perfect knowledge of the instrument to write beautiful acoustic gems like 'Wonderwall' and 'Cast No Shadow'."
"I’ll keep my beloved idiots who don’t write ‘songs’ for idiots but rather, they write FANTASTIC ‘songs’ for idiots."
So I see them and I say "Let's give these sacks of shit a chance"...
I was so disgusted that I switched to ReteAllmusic...
We are faced with an absolute masterpiece, a page of history, a symbol of mid-’90s England, the highest point reached by Oasis.
The most beautiful piece in the career of the Manchester group is ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’... the memorable solo of this song is something absolutely unique.
The 12 gems contained in the album enter you like water and inevitably leave you with something you cannot erase.
'Wonderwall,' which remains to this day an indescribable song for ordinary people.
