Oasis are not innovators, they don’t experiment, they just want to hit you with simple songs that are instant classics and stick to your ears and heart at first listen. Definitely Maybe is a condensation of the best English music produced from the sixties to the early ’70s, with maximal guitar and vocal volumes, psychedelia, violence, and candor merging in the grooves of DM.

"‘Live Forever’... a song dedicated to Noel’s mother, which emphasizes the desire not to die, but to fly and thus live." "Thus ends a great album... that awakened British music, which was dormant at the time, and still added a certain beauty to the rock world."

'Definitely Maybe' is a gem, an inimitable work that has marked music history, having sold even more than 'Revolver,' a Beatles record. To all those who hate Oasis, I say: 'To each their own tastes, but as Noel said a month ago: not even the Beatles, the Stone Roses, and the Rolling Stones would have managed to make such a debut CD.'

It’s listenable, but it’s certainly not a “timeless” or a “masterpiece” as I’ve heard some say. Oasis did better in the later years which is why they remain one of my favorite bands.

"Perhaps this judgment is also influenced by the fact that in the 10 years that followed, Oasis shifted gears musically and captivated us with albums of a vastly different level." "Track number three is indeed 'Live Forever': a great song that became the true anthem of a generation."

This album is just noise, and nothing more. Maybe I’ve been a bit harsh, but every time I try to listen to this CD, I get a headache...

This album is fantastic. Liam Gallagher’s voice always gives us chills while he sings 'Maybe I don’t really want to know how your garden grows 'cause I just want to fly…'

Oasis is a band that, like it or not, has helped to write a part (although minimal) of musical history in recent years. 'Live Forever' is the quintessential Oasis song, brilliant and original, perfect in its simplicity and magical in its dreamy lyrics.

The CD opens with Rock 'n' Roll Star, a stupid and banal track that does nothing to improve the work. The rest of the album is more or less always the same melody repeated endlessly.
