Franz Schubert Sinfonia No.9
Voto:
It is commendable in itself that you review music that is among the forms of art, something that cannot be said of any light music, be it current or past. However, I agree with Holdsworth in that reviewing classical music cannot overlook the interpretation, and in general, it would be better to have knowledge about it. Emotions... they are also present in front of a beautiful sunset or at some human event; they are there when you greet your girlfriend and when you receive a raise... I mean, the word seems overused and general to me. The interesting thing, and the best part of your review, is when one manages to define emotions in a way that corresponds more precisely to what provokes them, and this is what Massimo Mila does in the quote you used, which I believe is the most engaging part of your text.
Between classical music and other genres, I see the same difference that exists between an authorial poem, whether ancient or contemporary, and the lyrics of a singer-songwriter's song, namely an abyss.
@sfascia: pallini pallini terry....you make me die! If you pass through Rome, give me a shout, I'll treat you to coffee at Piazza del Popolo. That way, I would meet in person a debaseriano - particular, of course - who may not be representative, but debaseriano, and I would find out if you speak the way you write (but I don't believe so, because yours are true compositions). Shall we invite pallini pallini as well?
Runes Order The Land of Silence

Looking back, I agree with you, oh king: if only to avoid misunderstandings, certain symbols with suspicious outlines should not be used, and the choice of Runes could be less innocent than Dondo would have us believe, for he knows very well how those symbols were used in the twentieth century. I also agree on the second point; ideology and music should remain as distinct as possible. They should... but we know that a connection has often existed, for example between classical music or opera and political and patriotic ideals. Being a cultural product as well as stemming from inspiration, it necessarily reflects the worldview of its creator, and like a visual artwork, it can be used as a tool for the dissemination of ideologies.

Well! I think you're doing them a disservice; in an interview, Dondo states that people quickly see either a far-right ideology or even satanism in Celtic symbols, but he was just fascinated by the pagan world. I have Hopeless Days by them, which I think is an excellent album, evocative, seductive, hypnotic, and with great underlying melodies. Then I have another one from which I've lost the cover, and I can't remember which it is because inside it's all black, and it's not even the only all-black cd because it uses in the USA (heh). In my mind, I hear them as closer to dark than to industrial itself; you just have to listen to that track where he says, "I'm so cold...I want to go back....there's nothing left, nothing." I find them original and talented. Bye bye!
Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble Of Shadows Sanatorium Altrosa (Musical Therapy For Spiritual Dysfunction)
Voto:
Anyone who reviews Sopor is undoubtedly worthy in their own right... But the rating isn't high because, despite a linguistically correct text and careful choice of terms, the content is limited as it presents concepts without exploring them in depth, and you choose the track-by-track format which I find tedious. Welcome though, Bellospino! Until next time, goodbye!
My Dying Bride The Angel And The Dark River
Voto:
I really liked it a lot (eheheheh), because it combines passion and information, heart and brain as they say, and shows a good compositional ability. I would reconsider your presentation if I were you, because it is full of repetitions both of concepts and terms and has a misplaced apostrophe (eheheheh again). Bye bye.
Macbeth Malae Artes
Voto:
I have formed a better idea about Macbeth after reading your review, and that's enough! It was worth mentioning the group; from what I've heard so far, they are good. I really like "Pure Treasure," from another album, I think. Bye bye!

Objection, your honor! Two objections, to be precise: the first is that progressive is a subgenre. For you it is, but not for everyone. The English say "a person's trash is another person's treasure," meaning that what seems like garbage to one person is a treasure to another. And since we are talking about music, not football teams or similar things, tastes and preferences should always be respected, in my opinion. Second objection: "one's feelings about music are personal matters." No, I disagree; music evokes complex emotions first and foremost, and it's not like one listens to a beautiful piece and says thoughtfully, "oh, what a supreme combination of notes, la-la-si-si-si-do-la, it's truly a masterpiece," or "the integration of the violins at this point makes the piece even more enjoyable"... I mean, one might think that, but first, one feels involved on a visceral level, I would say, and I hope; otherwise, what are they listening for? When a reviewer's enthusiasm is expressed with the right words, I find it a pleasure to notice it. To give a few examples (forgive me for not recalling other names, eh, old age)... ozzyrotten, mementomori, fjelltronen, darkfall, norvheim have often written beautiful reviews that convey their feelings in addition to the information. There are also very skilled and well-prepared reviewers like lovelorn who maintain an objective stance, but, in my personal opinion, I find that when you encounter the combination of intellect and feelings, along with good writing, the reviews are the most successful.
Best regards, Luce.
The Sins Of Thy Beloved Lake Of Sorrow

Concise but it clearly conveys the essence. For me, they were a real surprise; they have impressive energy and creativity, and Anita's voice is very unique. The violinist is really talented and also quite a handsome guy, hehe. I had missed this review of yours. Hey beautiful!

Dear LUX, I expressed my opinion on the review based on the following criteria: 1) content (critical judgment at the outset, information about the concept of the album, metaphors like that of the hypothetical soundtrack) 2) linguistic form (I did not find errors in grammar and syntax) 3) expression of feelings regarding the reviewed music. I don't know what you have to criticize; here and in other forums, such as the literary website or that of translators, I am generally respected because my comments are well-founded and never stray from the written text into other aspects of the writer's personality. In my opinion, a person can be the nicest and most talented in the world and still write a bad review, or conversely, be an unpleasant grump but skilled in written composition. Regarding the group in question, basing your judgment on probabilities does not make it credible.
