Listening to his solo works, one can truly realize how Ihsahn is one of the best composers in the metal scene; his writing is elegant, distinctive, sultry, malevolent without ever being self-indulgent... already The Adversary was something exceptional, and now, less than a year later, he comes out with another highly praised album! I could kick myself thinking about what else the Emperor could have produced had they not disbanded.
