Rating: The veil, the mantle of sand, the shroud of apathy...
When man witnesses, hears, observes, and his soul is as cold as the damp sigh of autumn, when his body abandons the vital spark and the eye dies in its empty pupil, Northaunt will be the color of his withered dreams.
"Horizons" is a horizon and remains so: a distant chimera, a horizon of light and hope threatened and rendered unreachable by the bashful breaths of desolate coldness. The horizon speaks to him with the whisper of the wind; he hears it, but he cannot touch it.
"Until Dawn Do Us Part" is just a dusty call, languid and ethereal like the sigh of any human being. Sandy puffs and an arid chant invade every corner of his mind until the harmony of a solitary piano sharpens the attention, but it is only for a moment: the night falls with "Night Came to Us" and the heavy black mantle emits feverish and hissing rattles of unease among the rustling of the storm and the growls of the gods, giving rise to a slow and corrosive symphony.
With "Horizons" (title track) comes the classic and magical "calm after the storm," with its placid and sorrowful reemergence from the fury of nature in a blend of twilight melancholy; a muffled and intimate melody, yet raw and dragging, illuminates an "Autumn Sky" flecked with the wounds of thunder.
The landscape is raw, dead, but man does not hear or see; he is as extinguished as the nature surrounding him and remains in solitude, tormented by the weight of a night spent in total emptiness, in a dreamless sleep accompanied by timid trembling and floating notes, yet insistent and tormented ("Night Alone"), under a celestial vault studded with jewels of serene yet monolithic and incessant musical harmony ("With The Stars As Witness").
The man is alone in his desert ("The Wilderness"), possessed by his apathy, haunted by the whispers of nature and the nakedness of his being, doomed to gaze at an unreachable horizon and that he will never reach; imprisoned between walls of tears never shed, with Northaunt to accompany him to the end.
