Crazy, is the first word that comes to mind when listening to this band. The project "The Chronicles Of Adam West" is a truly interesting proposal, a young group full of ideas that has its roots in Post-Hardcore and Metal. With skill and excellent technique, these guys infuse their main genres with musical inserts of all kinds: Jazz, Progressive, Noise, Grind, and a myriad of other variations.
The tracks on their EP "We Walk Unbalanced" are 6 episodes of pure madness; no piece has a logical thread, transitioning from Hardcore fury to Jazz interludes with warm and relaxing atmospheres, only to plunge back into total hell. Short, concise tracks with frantic rhythms, the vocals are a constant scream, words launched with speed and an atonality that is sometimes disturbing but perfectly fitting for the genre proposed. The guitars churn out sharp and intricate riffs, performed with astonishing technique. Some parts of the riffing are truly sick; it's like witnessing solos that take the place of traditional riffs, really a great performance by the guitarists. The bass, within the sonic wall that is created, is somewhat disadvantaged, but in the Jazz breaks, it truly shines with top-level performances. All the musicians are really first-rate. It's pointless to highlight specific tracks; each is crazier than the last, whether you're listening to "Shit Eatin Grin" or your preference falls on "Showcat", you'll still be bewildered by this group's proposal.
These English guys, in this brief EP, show all their capabilities. I wouldn't want to exaggerate by saying they picked up where Dillinger Escape Plan left off with "Calculating Infinity," but I think The Chronicles Of Adam West have pushed the line of music extremity even further. Excellent, for any fan of hyper-technical Post-Hardcore imbued with multiple influences from every musical genre, this group is poised to become a must.
