@ Blackdog: Good heavens! You're right, she's an absolutely stunning goddess! Knowing Mustaine (he's my neighbor), I would bet my life that he called her to sing just to take her for a nice ride...

"It seems to me that most of the detractors of Dream Theater believe that there is no need to study to compose music, that music is just garage and LSD. Anyway, the comparison with Sonic is truly ridiculous and pretentious." I just read this, it's fantastic, I'm falling off my chair laughing. It's amazing how full of clichés you are, right up to your butt.

Mamma mia, what crap discussions you have to read, but it is what it is; there must be some idiot out there who drives you crazy with their nonsense, otherwise what’s the point of debating? Squonk, darling, wake up, we all know that Sonic Youth are not capable of making suites, but that has nothing to do with it. In fact, the quality of a piece was not measured by its length even in classical music, let alone with the advent of the song form. Debussy’s piano preludes average 4 or 5 minutes each, and that’s enough to set the asses of Dream Theater and all their fans on fire. The Beatles were great at composing songs, Beethoven at composing (among other things) symphonies. Now, if you ask Beethoven to compose a song, he won’t reach the Beatles' level of synthesis (because it takes a certain knack for that; these are different compositional skills), while if you ask the Beatles or Sonic Youth or whoever the hell you want to make a suite, obviously, since it’s not in their wheelhouse, they won’t be able to do it. It’s like asking De André to sing "We Will Rock You" and Freddy Mercury to sing "Marinella"; it just doesn’t work. Now, do me a favor, Squash, gather your few neurons and try to understand.

Puni, but weren't you one of those who liked reviews that were as original and surprising as this one?

I agree with the reviewer's judgement, Plant is irritating because it's frustrating to see a singer lose their voice so early, and I believe it's not due to health issues, but simply because he messed it up himself. I take this opportunity to reiterate my thesis: Led Zeppelin III is their best album, damn, it really seems superior to all the others to me. Then I would include Houses of the Holy and the first one, while frankly the second and fourth don't seem completely successful to me, as well as Physical Graffiti, even though they contain some amazing songs.

Dream Theater have now become the little band that plays for those who have completely missed 40 years of prog rock.

What can I say, in the end the review is honest, albeit sadly yet another one. However, you need to be careful because you always risk making missteps: just like in the Porcupine Tree review, where at the beginning you made an argument that was not widely shared, here too that intro where you mention Sonic Youth, Pixies, etc. sounds a bit off (even though you're not comparing them, of course), and it might lead one to think that Dream Theater suck because they belong to a "wrong genre." If you had mentioned Tool, Fates Warning, and things like that, it might have been better.
