Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness
Voto:
Symbolic albums of the '90s? Then: Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails, Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Angel Dust by Faith No More, Nevermind by Nirvana, Ten by Pearl Jam, OK Computer by Radiohead, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins, Pork Soda by Primus, Images and Words by Dream Theater, Ray of Light by Madonna, Korn by Korn. These are the first ones that come to mind and they don't necessarily coincide with my favorites.

In the first phase, referring to the second period, I meant to say "more commercial."

In my opinion, the period influenced by Barrett's more experimental style and the subsequent more experimental period are mirror images of each other. Without the first period, Pink Floyd wouldn't have gained the musical significance they eventually achieved, but without the second period, they wouldn't have attained the greatness for which they are famous today. I find "A Saucerful of Secrets" to be a magnificent album; I might even prefer it to "Pipers," but beyond personal tastes, it is important to recognize that Barrett's greatest merit was directing the musical exploration towards form and not just content. Through the malleability of form via electronic instruments and a subversive approach to the guitar, Barrett spread his new doctrine. It was during the period with Barrett that Pink Floyd focused on their best features: the hammering rhythms of bass and drums, the dreamy guitar with slides and various delays, the electronic coverage provided by the keyboard tapestry, the ambient sounds, and the Pink Floyd-style vocals. All of these elements were perfected over time and made more accessible to a wider audience.

I didn't like it that much. It feels a bit uninspired. But there's one thing I didn't understand: Maledetta primavera isn't nickghostdrake?

Ok. You reminded me that it's been a while since I listened to "in utero."

For example, I still need to understand if indie is a genre or just a contrarian commercial approach. Do you think there are any common musical traits?

From the concert DVD by Muse that I watched, they really seem to be great live. Bellamy, above all, has quite a strong presence. As for their music, I like the first two albums. Absolution doesn’t appeal to me much, and I haven’t listened to the latest one yet.
