Christ light, then you haven't understood a damn thing about my critique.

the last sentence is: "never seen one of their reviews put among the choices by the editors."

"How amusing the story of Rock is. Truly amusing. We can find artists of remarkable artistic caliber, yet ignored and unknown to most, just as we can uncover bands celebrated by the public that, perhaps upon closer inspection, may raise residual doubts about their actual qualities. In my humble and shy opinion, Porcupine Tree under the 'genius' Wilson fit quite faithfully into this latter case." This is the mood of your review, which would have rated 5 for my taste. And again: Be careful, I am not insinuating that PT 'suck entirely', but rather that they are, more simply, overrated (which makes a big difference). "And if we come to consider 'masterpiece' an album devoid of personality and communicative ability like Deadwing, then the story of Rock is not only amusing but also deeply unfair." If the review hadn't had as its leitmotif this ostentatious overvaluation of the Porcupine, I would have given you 5, plain and simple. You see, if you had made such a speech about Radiohead, even though I don't agree with you, I could have accepted it, because it is true that Radiohead are celebrated. But with Porcupine Tree, this becomes a historical falsehood. So much so that the pretentious scholars of cultured and experimental music on Debaser don't even give them a passing glance. I've never seen a review among the selections.

The hailed Porcupine Tree. How come? The history of rock is also made up of funny and poorly informed reviewers, perhaps. And you fall into this category. Do you know why? Because those poor Porcupine Tree have created at least 4 albums of stratospheric caliber: On the Sunday of Life, Up the Downstairs, The Sky Moves Sideways, Signify. Then there’s the live album Coma Divine, simply incredible. And honestly, no one cared about them back home; in Italy, they started getting attention mainly after Coma Divine. Meanwhile, in England, everyone was all ears for Oasis and then Blur. The prog metal fans only had eyes for Dream Theater and sparingly for Fates Warning. And Wilson had released 4 beautiful albums while remaining almost anonymous. Then, in my opinion, Wilson experienced a decline in performance; he made more controversial albums that were more easy listening, although In Absentia is in the midst of that. Gradually, people started to notice him back home, and now he is beginning to enjoy a fair amount of success. I haven't listened to this album; if it were as you say, one could judge the album (and you would have done so well), but the context in which you place the review reveals a disarming intolerance. 1.

Beautiful soundtracks make history on their own apart from the film. I listen to Ennio Morricone, Goblin (something), Riz Ortolani (something), John Williams (something), Nino Rota, Michael Nyman even more enjoyably without the film, so I can focus on the music.

So, I like metal, and I’ve also enjoyed some early power metal, but I’ll say this: Clown to those who listen to this stuff, clown to those who play it (a bit less so, because as long as they’re making money, they’re clever clowns), music for clowns and scores for clowns. This album is terrible; it sounds like the CD player is always pressed on the forward button, and the expressiveness of the instruments is so low it borders on the ridiculous. If you want to laugh at them and at yourselves, go ahead and buy it. I usually don’t give such icy judgments, but in this case, I can’t help but shoot it down.

I agree with floydman. The time of joy will be more mature, in my opinion, instrumentally. In there is my favorite piece of the band: un giorno, un amico.

Exactly aries, desertshore, that could be a 5, we are on a whole different planet. It can't be compared to this, perhaps because it's a great album unlike this one.

No. 5 no. I can't add more than 3 to this album. It has some really valuable things, but in the long run, it drives me nuts.
