The first records are of excellent craftsmanship, with personality and a good voice. There is creativity in this album. Something that, as others have already noted, has been lost over time.

"minimally famous" Come on, don't be silly, you know how many more famous bands I adore. Besides, the Verdena aren't even famous. It's just that in Italy, fame is in 99 percent of the cases on the wrong side. Anyway, Alfredo is right: I would say that when it comes to rock, Italy's fame is quite unfortunate. And rightly so, considering we don’t have a single original idea, and those who do don't emerge.

So, two things: the only noteworthy album by Verdena is "Il suicidio dei samurai"; I would mock the other albums even if they were made by a group of sixteen-year-olds from the area. A band that sounds flat on that album, so flat that it’s unbearable. There’s no personal touch in any instrument, the drums are mind-numbingly boring, as are the guitar riffs and the sounds from the keyboards. Let’s skip the compositional part, which is unworthy (same old chords and progressions, they just redo them). The lyrics are the only thing that might spark some interest, but unfortunately, there’s always the same tone, no twists, no flashes of poetry that disturb or transport you. Long live Italian art. But then again, excuse me, is that damn album still not out? And you, Mr. Moustache, how long have you had it? Isn’t it profoundly incorrect to start listening to an album long before the band wants it to be released?

Come on, Mista, do me a favor. We’re really in deep trouble if we have to save this little group with zero originality. You just need to take a stroll through underground culture to find even more original acts, I mean. There’s not the slightest hint of intuition in this music, no genius, no rare qualities. There’s only effort and the instruments, which unfortunately, in art to say something interesting, aren’t enough. But go ahead and listen if you like them; I’d rather fill my ears with something more intense. I mean, damn, if we export these groups abroad, they’ll laugh at us. Better to keep the Arcade Fire over there, for real.

"the Italian rock is called Verdena." I haven't listened to the latest album by Verdena; I've listened to the others, and I have to say that in my opinion, Verdena is a mediocre band, really banal and mediocre. Anyone who picks up an instrument for a few years can write the music these guys write. So, okay, if Italian rock is to be represented by Verdena, then I’d say we are in really bad shape. Instead, I believe that I Giardini di Mirò are truly something interesting in the Italian scene, or Julie's Haircut, and in the past, Bluvertigo, or Marlene Kuntz (oh my, I don't like them, but I acknowledge they have some merits). But these guys are truly desolate.

Very well, on this page there are many good reasons not to engage in any serious discussions in this forum anymore. Great.

"I have the impression that working with a super showman like Nicholson must be tough" ----> In reality, it was much harder for Kubrick to work with the actress Shelley, who, during filming, suffered several nervous breakdowns because of Kubrick. Nicholson and Kubrick got along perfectly because, above all, they were good buddies. What a pair, indeed! :-)
