You know how much I care about hidden meanings and concepts if the music is bland.

Anyway, as they say, in the end the motivation you mentioned is definitely a positive aspect to consider, which is finally the almost mass dissemination of Morricone's music.

Oh come on, guys. I want to ask you something: can you handle these Pink Floyd fans?

I absolutely don’t want to put any thoughts in anyone's head, but I just want to say that society’s interest is a trend that unfortunately also affects Morricone's music. Until a year ago, no one was talking about it, and in recent months we’ve seen an Oscar award, a concert at the UN, and now all these compilations. I've been listening to Morricone for a long time, I'm really fond of his music, and it annoys me that people are only starting to talk about it now, just because the United States is talking about it. Only now, at eighty, does Ennio receive unanimous acclaim, and not even that genuine, as it serves to boost record profits. And that really gets on my nerves. I’ve been irritated by the fate of people like Bukowski at best, or at worst, great artists like Modigliani who died in poverty while their artworks now profit people who have nothing to do with them. Morricone is fortunate because he had the chance to work with great directors and thus to make a living, but the media have never really talked about him. And it also annoys me the way these compilations are made, without any art or substance. They call popular artists who have nothing in common and make them play these pieces. I see too much of an economic intent in all of this.

1 to this pile of crap, because the American media seems to have only just realized how good Morricone is, and of course, the peak of popularity is being exploited to earn a few extra bucks. He's been composing film scores for 40 years and has never received a damn Oscar, not even the only one. This year, he got the consolation prize of a lifetime achievement Oscar, and suddenly, they talk about him at the Oscars, creating this media frenzy around the Italian genius. What a shame: once again, Americans demonstrate their enormous mental deficiency and ignorance. And so, this compilation, lacking any artistic merit, is released as well. The interpretations of these works (which were stunning even before he received the Oscar) are done by the usual suspects, the "commonplace" artists on the international scene. Cris Botti stands out, an overrated trumpeter and handsome man, who splits his time between catwalks and stages (he’s performed with Sting), the Metallica, who have been absent from meaningful projects for 15 years just so they can still cash in, including this "compilation." Andrea Bocelli, a must for "international productions." He must be the only one in the world who does opera singing since they always call him (or Placido Domingo, or Pavarotti). Luckily, at least there’s Dulce Pontes, who is the only one that actually connects with Morricone since she has worked with him.

Trivial album, I would say that in the '70s you could randomly find much better ones by the truckload. Cheap folk music that hits the mark in two or three songs throughout the album, among which is "Hotel California," a song whose authorship I don't want to investigate, but it is the one that makes me refrain from giving the album a one-star rating. Impeccable review.

Also, if someone wants to give this album a 3, I don't see where the problem could be, as long as they provide a good argument.

Yes, but let me say one thing. Many of you look at the review score as a negative element, when in fact the score is the last thing that matters, because this review is poorly written, unworthy of publication, and the person who wrote it could at least have had the decency to double-check their Italian. It claims to be a descriptive review, yet for each song (and what songs they are), there are childish thoughts like "summer is nice because it's warm." It's also unclear what the reviewer meant by "very well-defined solos." I believe the score is the least of the problems.

I believe the Japanese are used to seeing concerts like this. :-) I don't know, it seems to me that those in the central rows (not in the bleachers) are all standing anyway.
