not modern, that much is certain. simply because times have evolved and, as you say, cacca and pupù are funnier. I don't agree that it's the daring metaphors and lo schwanstuck that elevate Hollywood Party and Frankenstein Junior. They are an additional element, but both are still incredibly entertaining even in their "innocent" moments. All the more so: the "innocent" comedy of Peter Sellers is commendable.

visual comedy not immediately apparent? It seems the opposite to me, in the tender clumsiness of the indostano. As you say, it touches on other themes without delving into them. It's normal to laugh more with The Simpsons since they are closer to us, more current, but this film is a real gem. Just like the Hollywood television party of the broncoviz was a gem.
