Citing Dylan, Baez, and Cohen, describing it as simple and unadorned, I expected something else. And my expectations were not met. Good songwriting, yes, but it doesn’t seem to stand out from the crowd in any particular way. However, unadorned, definitely not.

another piece of the horse trilogy: this, thee stranded horse and now only nina nastasia is missing, who will take care of it? the comparison to animal collective would make me want to keep my distance, but the rest inspires me. what should I do? the curse of having only two ears.

even youthful anger fades. Not that the The Evens lack anger: all their songs have a polemical vein in any case. I liked the first album more; I find this one a bit more monotonous. "the obsessive essentiality of the instrumentation": if they want to make an album as a duo, just guitar and drums, what obsessiveness is there?
