In my opinion, the masses are manipulated, not by myth but by someone who cleverly stays in the shadows. They create a god for the masses, and the masses kill themselves for that god, who doesn't even exist. To create a television or music star, it takes very little; just the media hammering. Once, until about twenty years ago, at least someone (musically) could impose themselves thanks to the buzz from independent radio (born to be alive is an example), but now those don't even exist anymore, everyone is uniformed towards the abyss while the others continue to sing, as Bennato said in E-A-A.
