Alright, but weren't we talking about Vasco Rossi and the Italian scene? Otherwise, this is getting too convoluted for me. Anyway (for Primiballi), you often tell us "the only ones who are good are those who don’t sell," well, I (aside from my fondness for Faust'o Rossi) usually end up buying LPs/CDs that have topped the charts. However, nowadays I find a certain Alessio Lega (just to name one) crushed by the usual suspects who haven’t changed a single note in at least 35 years (and 20 for some younger ones). I find Daniele Silvestri (whom I appreciate a lot, by the way) in the charts with a song that's old by years (Pozzo dei desideri 1999) passed off as new. So, what do we do? Do we keep fooling ourselves with the old nursery rhyme? (You don’t sell because no one knows you, no one knows you because you don’t go on TV, you don’t go on TV because you don’t sell). In my house (which, by the way, is the home of a metalworker), CDs from unknown people keep arriving (they send them to me, all the fault of the Fausto tribute); some deserve much more, yet nobody pays attention to them because they are busy praising the usual suspects. DeBaser (with all its flaws) is a nice platform that gives us the chance to talk about these lesser-known figures as well. By the way, I’m from '62, and I believe there has always been good music regardless of the decade in question; sure, certain sounds and arrangements from 40 years ago really annoy me... (the whole discourse only refers to the Italian scene).

Vasco's problem is that from "we're not the Americans" he hasn't really "evolved"; he has remained stuck in the character of the damned. Others may have had less success (I think of Ruggeri), but at least they tried to make some kind of progress. Vasco, with all the luck he's had, has never grown, and I will never forgive him for accepting that they reissued his old works with revamped covers.
