King Crimson In The Court Of The Crimson King

Great review. I agree about the album; it's the best in the entire discography and, as they say in these cases, a manifesto of progressive.

I've never understood why there's so much hostility towards Dream Theater.. they are talented, but the music of DT has a magic and an explosiveness that is unique.

Is it possible that no one can seriously review an album like this? Dozens of reviews, none up to par. I only appreciate the effort for the rhymes.

A rather poor review, although it says it all in substance... This is not their best work, after all their artistic journey had practically reached the end of the line. The orchestrations are in very bad taste and have nothing to do with the band's hard-rock roots, which often seem to mimic the Beatles. Great as always, Jack Bruce (the true phenomenon of the trio, well above the overrated Eric Clapton). The most beautiful song is White Room.

Nice review, I never liked them; I always found their music too disturbing to be enjoyable to listen to, referring in particular to their most famous CD, the one with three songs, Pawn something. However, if only there were more bands like these, even though I've always preferred other bands in the progressive genre.

Perfect, I agree on every point but the final score is a bit higher. We're Gonna Groove is one of their best tracks, and it represents, in my opinion, the real gem of this album; in fact, I’m surprised they didn’t include it in II (even though it’s hard to remove any tracks from that one). Fantastic Poor Tom. In short, for a record of scraps and outtakes, I think it’s truly remarkable; after all, Led Zeppelin are the greatest (along with Pink Floyd).
Iron Maiden A Matter Of Life And Death

Anyway, it’s not written anywhere that someone who loves metal can’t also love other music genres. And I don't see it written anywhere that Iron Maiden are just for teenagers. Long live mental flexibility.

From my point of view, this album is of excellent quality; it hardly feels like an album from an old band. There are very original and bold tracks, such as the aforementioned The Legacy (they almost sound like DT), and powerful, evocative pieces that only Maiden can deliver (the single and the opening track). The sound is stunning, and the production seems nearly perfect. Dickinson comes across as a bit tired, but he’s still magnificent; if only everyone aged like him. In short, for me, this is one of their best albums, much better than the previous one, where the three guitars were more of a background and didn’t provide the added value in terms of robustness, complexity, and completeness of sound that we find here well expressed. I conclude by saying that, for the reasons stated above, this album paradoxically might appeal more to the band's detractors or to those who are unfamiliar with them than to long-time fans who, forgive me, seem to have lost track of what they want from these guys, perhaps hoping they would retire for good. I hope not. In my opinion, they are still in great form: listen to The Pilgrim to realize it. The review? Not much to say; let’s just say I rate it my way. Rating: 4
