THE REVIEW

So guys, get two things into your heads:

a) We're no longer in the 80s. Get over it! Obviously, the Maidens have changed since then, you can't expect the band to be in "continuous bloom." So adapt...

b) You have to admit there's a good leap in quality from "Dance of Death" to here. This album is much more METAL, while the other lost some flavor in certain tracks. And then there are several riffs and lyrics to take into account. Example: "Brighter than a thousand suns", "The longest day"... But I could go on.

You can't say the Maidens have reached mediocrity, because it's not true. They're not like they used to be, and I admit that some choruses with Dickinson are a bit more embarrassing than usual, but he's one of the few who can still sing properly. How many metal bands have declined, or are no longer around??? Joking aside, these gentlemen have been around for over 26 years!!! That's no small feat, huh!

Even the theme is quite engaged, unlike the others, which practically don't have an underlying theme. (It seems that war, in metal, inspires good musical works! A bit crude to say it like that...). And then there are always the great solos by Janick Gers, more present in this album than ever! It's always a great thrill...

So don't listen to those who tell you: "Meh, the latest by the Maidens is exactly like the one before, they're too old now."

They may be old, but having grandpas like that.

It’s a flawless album in terms of production, technique, and Bruce’s vocal performance.

The tracks are very long and not very immediate, but it’s certainly not a hard metal album, which suits the band’s age.

‘A Matter of Life and Death’ is an album that has many things to say and requires an audience willing to sit down and listen to it calmly and coherently.

The album itself is excellent, full of well-conceived and executed ideas, a masterpiece? I certainly won’t be the one to decide it; the arduous sentence is left to posterity.

Each song has its own particular light, and there isn’t a single track placed just to extend the album’s duration.

Ladies and gentlemen, the beast is back, and despite the age, it is also quite angry and in shape!!

"The choruses in 'These Colours Don't Run' are embarrassing, the song rhythms are incredibly predictable."

"If you can't produce an average-level album, why do you struggle to carry on?"

"An album to buy and listen to calmly to appreciate it... it sounds terribly good."

"Listen, listen, listen and open your mind. Up the irons."
